Simple Pleasures #46

Awww summer in the south.

I love everything about it. (okay, I could skip the mosquitoes)

The heat rolling up from the sidewalks, the lightning bugs at night, the sound of cicadas, ice tea on the front porch, splashing in a rocky bed creek.....

And then of course there are those summer treats.

What could be better than an ice cream cone at the beach and trying to keep it from melting before you can eat it?

Do you have a favorite flavor?

I love chocolate, but my favorite ice cream of all time is homemade peach made with fresh-picked peaches.

It has been many years since I have had some, but I can still close my eyes and conjure up the taste.

These days I am trying to stay away from sugar, so I am trying to find alternate ways to satisfy my craving for summer treats.

Then I came across the idea of making popsicles from healthy smoothies.

Why didn't I think of that?

I just ordered these popsicle molds so that I can start enjoying some summer treats again.

What I'm Watching

Amazon Prime Days are here which means you can add some channels to your account for 99 cents a month each for up to two months.

I just added amc+ and Starz to mine so I can watch some programs that I have wanted to watch but didn't want to pay full price.

I have watched the first two seasons of The Split on amc+ but the third and final season was just released and I am too impatient to wait for it to be released on another streaming channel.

I also want to watch the latest season of Outlander and I can now do that on Starz.

I'm getting the popcorn ready.

  2. I just had a cold coffee treat with some chocolate protein shake added...just a little! It was yummy. I'll look for those books. We don't watch much tv but we read a lot! Enjoy your afternoon!

  3. Oh I remember the homemade ice cream my mom used to make when I was a child. We always did that during the summer months. I really don't remember the flavors though! She always canned fresh peaches, which to this day I miss.. and there is nowhere you can buy good canned peaches! Those summer desserts look yummy.... especially the strawberry kabobs. How fun! I'm staying away from sugar too, and it's hard! my "go to" now is fresh fruit when I have a sugar craving, or my homemade oatmeal bars. Take care... Marilyn

  5. I'm a huge Outlander fan! One of my favorites! Great idea to make pops out of smoothies - I think I'll have to try that.
