MY SMALL KITCHEN ORGANIZATION
Some days it feels like my kitchen just keeps getting smaller.
Take my word for the fact that if it actually gets any smaller I will not be able to squeeze in or cook.
Mine is not a fancy kitchen like the ones I ooh and aah over on Instagram..
It's a kitchen where refrigerator art, courtesy of my grandaughter Tessa, just keeps on giving every time I open the refrigerator door and glitter floats down to the floor.
It's a kitchen where I really do like to be able to cook some healthy meals like my favorite eggplant tomato casserole.
I continuously work on organizing it in the best way I can so that it works for me.
Having paper towels on the counter just took up too much space, so I recently purchased this magnetic paper towel holder.
These are some of the other things I have purchased to help get me organized and to free up some space.

MY SMALL MAXIMALIST APARTMENT
There were some very mixed reviews on my last maximalist post. (here) Some loved the house with all of its colors and others really didn't like it.
I think that is wonderful. I love your views. I loved the house because it was very bohemian and artistic, but no, it is not the style I choose for my own home.
Some people have wondered how I can live a simple and serene lifestyle in a small maximalist apartment. For me it is a simple matter of living in a space where I am surrounded by the things I love that gives me a sense of serenity.
When it comes right down to it, isn't that what home means to all of us? Some people seem to love very sparse homes. They feel uncomfortable having many things. I am the opposite.
If I see a blank wall I want to fill it up. When I go to the garden center I know I can find a space for one more plant.
Waking up in the morning I am comforted by my serene bedroom and feel ready to take on a new day.
Sitting in the chair in my living room I love looking over at my blue and white plates and some favorite prints.
When I go into my kitchen for my morning cup of tea or coffee I see that I have turned my small amount of wall space into useful storage.
It all seems so simple to me. Make your home a space that you love and you will feel serene.
If there is one thing I hope we have learned from the last year of self-isolation is that no matter its size, no matter your decorating style, and no matter how much or how little you choose to decorate with, there really is no place like home.

Shhh don't tell anyone, but you might just find that fabulous ironstone casserole dish pictured above in my Etsy shop.

DECORATING WITH VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE CHINA
I have always had a love for beautiful china. I think it started when I was a child and visited my grandparents.
I slept in my Great Aunt Rose's old room and there was a china cabinet in her sitting room full of china and glassware. I eventually got that china cabinet, and after having it for 40 years, I passed it on to my oldest daughter, Cary.
Aunt Rose loved hand painted pieces featuring roses, and although I think those pieces are beautiful I have always had a love for blue and white transferware.
If I see a blue transferware piece for a good price, I cant resist buying it, and if I can't find a place for it in my own home I put it in my shop to sell.
This is a turkey plate I found a few years ago, which I take out this time of year as part of my fall decor. I actually had nine of these, but sold the other eight as I just didn't have anywhere to put them.
Yes, I know I have shown you my hanging plate rack before, but it makes me so happy to look across my room and see it that I have to keep sharing it.
It is such a great place for my blue and white pieces.
My pine cupboard holds my large set of Royal Doulton china, which was my mom's, along with another favorite of mine white ironstone.
There are so many ways to use china in your home decor. I wish I had more space to display mine, but lack of space means I have to let a lot of it go, and that is where my Etsy shop comes in.
Saturday is usually Tessa day, but as it is supposed to rain all day and we have to visit outside I am waiting to make a decision on visiting.

NOT A TRENDY DECORATOR.
As she was leaving she asked if I had ever submitted my apartment to a magazine. Wow, what a lovely compliment.
Yesterday a new friend dropped by my apartment and demanded to be let in. She said she has been hearing from a lot of people how beautiful my apartment is. (I told her I hope she wasn't put off by the mess)
After a quick tour of my little space she laughed and asked could she just come up and shop in my home when she wanted something new.
I said my decorating style is somewhat eclectic and she replied that her's is Fred Sanford. (It's not. I have been in her apartment and it is very cute) Our styles are different, but we are both bargain hunters.
I am not a trendy decorator. I learned a long time ago to decorate in a style that I love. A style that speaks of my personality. A style that when I walk in the door I feel completely at home.
And I think that is the most important thing to remember when we are dressing ourselves or our homes.
Whatever the latest trend may be, we are the ones who have to live with it
We need to be able to sit down at the end of the day, put our feet up, and know that we are home.
That's why I am not a trendy decorator, because the bottom line is the only person I need to impress with my home is me.
