TEACHING AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS

Wednesday, April 28, 2021

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks, or an older woman? Of course I'm not saying I'm actually old. Ask my uncle who will be 101 in June and his wife who will be 100. They would be happy to tell you that I am not old.

Age is a relative thing. Each moment brings new opportunities for enjoyment and for starting new endeavors.

My grandparents worked in their business until they were in their late 80s. Of course they slowed down a bit, but they were still in there. I remember my grandmother sitting at her desk doing all of the bookkeeping, and my grandfather working in the greenhouses.

My uncle was still keeping the books in his 90s. He even learned how to use the computer. So by their standards I am just a young'un.

I always thought I might be able to retire at age 65, but boy was I wrong. First of all our Social Security system punishes women who spend most of their adult lives as caregivers. We are basically free labor as we raise our children and often take care of elderly parents.

I do have to say that I like to keep busy and I enjoy learning new things. I finished grad school when I was 50. That definitely put a strain on my brain.

Now I am on to new endeavors.

I recently became an Amazon influencer and have opened a storefront where I share many of my favorite finds with you. I hope you will visit it as I make a small commission from your purchases.

I have also been accepted as an influencer with Reward Style this week. My brain is now going into study mode as I learn how to use it. It will give me the opportunity to share favorites from many of our favorite stores.

The best part is that now I will not feel like I am wasting my time when I spend hours "window shopping" online.

It is all so exciting, but don't worry I will still have time for my precious daughters and grandchildren and for you, my dear readers.

  2. So happy for you and I will definitely check out your amazon store.. God bless your grandparents. May they live many more years. What history they've seen! I've love to sit down and talk with them for like 2 days....LOL... I think they have the right idea.. Work until you can't anymore.. Somehow, for a lot of people it seems to keep them young depending on the job.....

Your uncle is 101? Bless him. Age is all relative.
