Simple Pleasures #9

I'm really enjoying the weather we have been having in Atlanta the last week or so. Temperatures hovering in the low sixties in the early morning and blue skies make it perfect for getting outside and walking.

I was really having a hard time being disciplined enough to walk up and down that hallway every morning for 30 minutes, but I have been driving a mile to the shopping center and walking there.

It takes me 30 minutes to walk around the entire perimeter and I can look in shop windows and watch the early morning people stopping for coffee and breakfast.

Much more interesting and the fresh air and exercise are a good way to get my day going.

Lovely Reads

Have you met Brenda's new kitten, Gracie? She's a real cutie.

Just when I think there can't possibly be a recycling idea that I haven't seen here comes the cutest pop-up garden in a toaster

Speaking of walking, have you been hiking with Diane lately? I swear that girl and her husband must wear the bottoms off of a lot of shoes.

I know it is a bit early for Christmas, but not too early to make this boho-style Christmas stocking

Favorite Gluten-Free Recipe This Week

I had never made a quiche before, but this crustless broccoli quiche sounded so good I decided to give it a try. It actually turned out perfect and I would definitely give it an A for tastiness. I didn't miss the crust at all.

It really wasn't that difficult to make, it was very filling, and I put several slices in the freezer for future meals.

Have you had a chance to read these recent posts?

Monday I shared Grandmillennial Style Decor. I hadn't heard of it before, but I am definitely smitten.

Wednesday's Healthy Habits for a Happier Life was about Laughter Is The Best Medicine. I hope you are finding time each day to laugh.

Favorite Amazon Finds For Walking

Cute lightweight sweater with pockets for an early morning walk.

These are my all-time favorite socks for walking. They last forever and best of all they don't slip down into my shoe.

When I head into the woods to walk I always take a wooden walking stick.

When the weather gets a bit cooler I will definitely pull out my Hanes full-zip hoodie sweatshirt.

Don't forget your water when you go out for a walk. I like this one with its pockets for the necessities you need to take with you.

What I'm Watching In October

October means new seasons on Acorn TV and there are two show that I am looking forward to.

After so many murders, I'm not quite sure how there is anyone left in such a small place, but October brings us a fresh season of Midsomer Murders and I can't wait. It's the perfect English cozy mystery show.

Any show that stars Martin Clunes is great, and Manhunt is no exception. Season one in 2019 was the highest rated show in the UK. Clunes plays DCI Collin Sutton and he will tasked with taking an incredibly dangerous criminal off the streets.

Thanks for visiting today.

  1. Thanks for mentioning Gracie. By the way, she was sniffing around Ivy's little plate that I bought from you before I picked it up to wash it. I put it on a little bench so Ivy wouldn't have to bend over so much. Gracie knocked it off and broke it right in half. Scared herself to death. I love those socks, will have to check them out and I haven't watched Manhunt yet.

  4. Oh, I see some items that would be nice for a hike! And you're right...being outside getting fresh air and exercise really gives you a boost that lasts all day. I'm so glad our weather has improved. It's still warm here but at least the humidity is down. Thanks for mentioning me and visiting me! Wish you were here to hike with me. Maybe one day....!!! Hugs, Diane

  7. Ah yes walking. Thanks for reminding me again. I'm just recovering from Covid so don't have the energy yet to walk. I do walk down to my mailbox (down a steep driveway) and back up, and that's about it for now. The weather here has been gorgeous too... some days in the 80's still, but the nights are cooling off. I need to get some good walking shoes, plus those socks! Marilyn

  8. I like to walk alone, and feel badly when neighbors ask me to walk with them! I just don't like walking and gabbing. I like to listen to something engaging on my headphones. I loved Martin Clunes in Doc Martin, so I think I'm going to have to get Acorn TV! Oy, another TV service to pay for!
