Simple Pleasures week #3
Over time I have passed on many family items along with other vintage and antique things to my two daughters.
As a seller of vintage and antiques, I am so happy that they also love and appreciate them the way that I do.
My older daughter lives in a house in Atlanta that dates to around 1840. My younger daughter lives in a duplex that is part of an Atlanta bungalow that I believe dates to the 1930s.
Several days ago I looked around my apartment and thought about how I need to pare down some more and how I would love to share more with my daughters.
I have my mother's Royal Doulton service for twelve china that has been just sitting in my old pine cupboard. I asked Cary if she would like to have it and she said yes, so I packed it up.
I also have my grandmother's antique fern stand and decided to pass that on to Katy.
I call it sharing the love.

Lovely Reads I Found This Week
As I settle into another round of isolating at home, I am enjoying not only my own home but also seeing the homes of others. There really is no place like home.
I may be a couple of years late to the party on this, but I liked this Farmhouse Tour so much that I had to include it.
Favorite Gluten-Free Recipe This Week
Because I eat gluten-free I am always excited to find new gluten-free recipes, and so this little space is for all of my gluten-free friends and anyone else who loves good food.
I have never met a strawberry or a strawberry jam that I didn't like so this seems pretty much perfect to me.

Now that we are finding ourselves back in our homes again I know that I am once again looking for fun activities to keep me occupied. (Yes, I know I need to clean out my closets, but I said fun activities.)
What I'm Reading
I just got the latest Maisie Dobbs book by Jacqueline Winspear. Maisie becomes entangled in another mystery, this time in WWII England. If you love mysteries and haven't read this series I suggest starting with her first book and working your way through the series.
What I'm Watching
I've just started watching Professor T on Masterpiece Theater. The eccentric but brilliant criminology professor is an advisor to the Belgian federal police. Although a valuable contributor, he drives everyone nuts because of his strange behavior.
Fall Decor Finds On Etsy
Yes, I am resisting the fact that fall is on its way. I love summer, and fortunately summer weather will hang on for quite a while in Georgia. However, I know that a lot of people are ready to ramp up their fall decor so I searched Etsy and found some darling things.

You are so lucky that your daughters want your family heirlooms. I know so many people who can't even give their things away. Love that farmhouse tour, especially the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 cabin trunks. I know that my mother's was her grandmother's (crossed the Atlantic three times to visit her sons in Vancouver and California)

Two came to South Africa, and here I am.
But no idea what will become of the family history one day.
