LOSING IT

Do you ever wonder if you are losing it? I seriously question myself on a daily basis.

I'm used to the normal part of aging. I know you know what I am talking about. The part where you walk into a room and have no idea what you were in there for, or the part where you google something, get sidetracked, and then have no idea what you were originally googling.

Those things are extremely aggravating, but most of the time I remember if I really think about it or it just comes to me later.

There are other things that really drive me crazy. Last week I bought three pairs of reading glasses on Poshmark. They were only $9 for the three pairs, and I had free shipping because it was my fist purchase on there.

When they came I was very excited to see how cute they were and how well made. I picked out my favorite pair and wore them for a week. Sunday I decided to go to Aldi. I was desperately in need of some groceries, and as I hadn't been there for awhile decided to see what they had.

They always have non grocery items and often have something I have been looking for. Once I found a market cart for $9.99. When you live in a city apartment a market cart is a necessity to get your groceries from the car up to your apartment.

This trip was no different. I have been wanting a small fireproof safe for my closet to safeguard things like my passport and some cash I keep on hand. They happened to have one. It was the perfect size and only $22.

Hooray for me.

You are probably asking what this has to do with me losing it, but I am coming to that.

When I got home and put away my groceries I noticed that my glasses were gone. I know I had them when I checked out, but that is the last time I remember seeing them. I went back out and looked in the car, I triple checked my purse, and I looked in my bags.

NOPE, they were nowhere to be found, and of course I have no memory of what could have happened to them. I know they were only $3 but I really liked them and I can't believe I lost them after a week.

Now I am on pair number two. They are also very cute, but I need to keep them for longer than a week. Otherwise, they weren't such a great bargain.

Maybe losing things doesn't necessarily mean I am losing it. I'll get my grandchildren's opinion and then let you know.

  1. Laura, I tell my husband , that is how I clean house, going from room to room looking for stuff. LOL My mom would not dare spend but a few dollars for sunglasses as she was always leaving them on tables in cafes or at her children's homes. She usually got them back her next trip. You may have to get a nice chain for glasses to hang on. I know what you mean about liking something then losing it though. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  2. Last spring I had my cataracts removed. Suddenly, I could see far off into the distance clearly, but nothing 2 feet from my face. It was very frustrating. I started purchasing dollar store glasses and have them scattered throughout the house. In the bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. I keep a pair in my purse also. Yesterday I went shopping and when I looked for my glasses in my purse I remembered the other day I was wearing a different jacket and had slid them into the pocket in the store. So frustrating as I cannot read any print, or price tags, etc. So luckily the shopping center had a dollar store and I ran in and purchased another pair to continue my shopping. I keep meaning to go to the optometrist and get a good pair, but what is the point? I will need multiples as I do now and that would get pretty expensive, so I keep putting it off.

  3. Usually I go all over looking for my reading glasses only to discover they are pushed onto my head.

  4. I hear you on the glasses. I have one pair of progressive prescription glasses.....I can see far off, dashboard distance and, if I look down, reading. However I still need reading glasses on top of the prescription ones to really read! So I layer my glasses with one pair on my face and another on my head or hanging from my neckline. I have a good sized lidded basket chock full of different glasses! Some 150, 175, 200 and even 250 and 300. Next year I’m going back to get a new pair of prescription glasses and this time I’m going to buy the best ones money can buy. The pair I got this year were scratched within a week!

  6. I jokingly say I get all my exercise back-tracking trying to remember why I came into the room, or looking for lost items. I can loose something without moving 3 feet away. Very aggravating, but glad to know I'm not the only one.

  7. Oh I get it...I have glasses all over the house now because I am always misplacing them. I once scoured the house looking for a pair, before I realized it was on my head. I'm going to get regular glasses soon, because I can't see if I'm coming or going anymore...

  8. Oh how funny!! I lost my phone the other day, that sent me into a panic for sure. Turns out it was inside the folded up part of my comforter, from when I was checking emails from bed when I woke up, ha ha!! I could not for the life of me understand how I lost it when I hadn't even left the house yet!

  9. I can so relate to this! I'm always losing things, sometimes never to be found again! I should make a list in the house and hang it on a kitchen cupboard, or somewhere it can always be seen, and when I move something (so I can find it!), I'll know where I moved it to! because once I move it, I can't usually find it again! I KNOW I'm losing it, in more ways than one! Marilyn
