HOW TO CREATE AN ENGLISH COTTAGE INTERIOR

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

I love English cottage style decor and use that style for my own apartment, mixing antiques with more casual pieces.

The slipcovered sofa and chairs in this room give it a very relaxed vibe, a place where you would feel comfortable curling up with a good book at the end of a busy day.

I love all of the vintage needlepoint pillows on this couch. I'm working on another one now to add to the ones I have collected over the years.

The vintage white wicker chair I have is in my cottage style bedroom, and I am thinking that I would love to add a large floral pillow to it like the ones here.

The style seems to call for a lot of plaids and checks mixed in with the florals. It's a great combination.

Comfort and coziness seems to be the theme of the English cottage style.

I am feeling a real love for all of that coziness.

  1. Laura, I love that room also. I think the windows are my favorite part. Those frames on the pictures are very nice too. I hope when you get in your new place it all works for you and you feel good there. Our homes should always be a retreat. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. That is a good solid choice for decor that never really goes out of style, Laura. It can be updated easily but having antiques with cottage elements is a favourite of mine.

  12. It's lovely...reminds me of what the older English books would call a sitting room. I love old novels and i can just see tea being brought in to a room like this while you are entertaining a friend. Of course you are not doing that in sweatpants, either. You have a lovely FROCK on :)

  15. It's very nice Laura and a look that I could definitely go for. I like how I can imagine actually using everything I have rather than needing to get rid of everything and re-shopping.
