WHAT I AM READING AND FAMILY TIME

Family Time

I took the weekend off to spend time with my family so instead of doing a home tour today I thought I would share some photos of the grandkids and also share what I am reading.

Saturday was Tessa's first 5k run. She had been training for 10 weeks with a program called Girls On The Run. GOTR is a program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience based curriculum, which creatively integrates running. You can read more about the Atlanta chapter here.

This is what our budding fashionista wore for her first training session.

She was so excited and nervous before the race, but she ran the entire three miles up and down hills and even up steep steps with her dad running along with her. What a trooper.

Sidney was dressed for the occasion as Winnie the Pooh. When I asked her why she decided to wear what she did she said it was because she was cold and it was laundry day.

As the run was in the park attached to the zoo, little children going to the zoo were excited to see Pooh. She said the zoo should be paying her. I say I don't know many 15 year old girls who have the confidence to not care what people think.

It was a perfect morning and a great way to start off the weekend.

Sunday was another perfect day. The sun was shining, the temperature hovered around 80 degrees, and my son-in-law and grandson prepared us a fabulous brunch served out on their deck.

Cary gave me this gorgeous bouquet of flowers, from her garden, arranged in a milk glass vase.

Katy gave me some beautiful placemats from my Amazon store

They are going to look fabulous with my blue and white transferware.

What I'm Reading

I have just started this book by Connie Schultz, who is a winner of a Pulitzer prize. The Daughters of Erietown is her first novel.

New York Times best seller: Hidden desires, long held secrets, and the sacrifices people make for family are at the heart of this first novel.

I can't wait to delve into it further.

Have a wonderful day.

  3. That book was fantastic. And I agree about Sidney. Good that she doesn't care what anyone thinks; she just blazes her own trail. I can see you in Tessa's eyes.
