CHANGING SEASONS

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Fall weather has finally arrived. The scorching 90 degree days that were still with us early last week are now a thing of the past.

Those temps have given way to daytime highs in the sixties and seventies. Sunny blue skies and soft breezes make for perfect days, and signs of Autumn seem more welcome now.

Pretty trees seem to be fewer this year due to the dry summer we had.

There seems to be an awful lot of browning going on.

What is really nice though, is seeing the flowers that are blooming. I love that the lantana is still holding on and since there is no frost in sight for the near future I am hoping they will be here for awhile longer.

Now that the weather is finally changing it is bringing up thoughts of changes that I personally want and need to make.

I have to bring in more added income than I have been this past year so I am going to try some new things. I was raised to not talk about money, but we live in a changing world and I need to shift my thinking.

I have to learn to promote myself more, which is hard for me to do. I have always been good at promoting and helping other people, but now I need to shift that focus to myself.

So as the seasons change around me, I will be changing too, and I'll talk more about that later this week.

    1. Hi Susie, I am so glad you stopped by. It is wonderful to hear from you. I lost my blog roll last month and have been trying to add people back in, but my memory doesn't seem to be as sharp as it used to be. I am hopping on over to visit with you. BTW, I am doing great and enjoying my new apartment.

  3. I hear you, Laura. I know you have been struggling for a while-I remember you mentioning it quite a while ago. Yep- Time to promote yourself. I am not good at promoting myself either-it goes against all we were taught, I think. Bless you- xo Diana

  4. So pretty where you live. Oh the struggles with money are real my friend. Us 'retired' folks don't get much from Social Security that's for sure!

  8. I'll be anxious to hear any solutions you come up with as far as generating more income! I am continually on that quest, as SS and a tiny bit of retirement are just not quite enough to get by on.. it's always a struggle to have enough to just pay the necessary living expenses, food, ins., etc. It's always hanging over my head that I need to somehow make some money. I hate it as at this age, would hope we would have enough to live without that worry. Like you, I ask myself.. if I work some now (at a real job outside the home), will I then become dependent on it and have to keep working until I die? I don't like the answer, so I try to get by on what I do have. It's hard.

    1. It is really hard, Marilyn and it seems to be common for many older women. I am working at selling my vintage and antiques and trying to come up with the best outlets for it. I'll keep everyone informed.
