SATURDAY SHOPPING WEEK ONE

I remember when Saturday was the big day we did our shopping. I'm not sure why, I guess it was just a thing. These days we jump online and shop 24 hours.

On Wednesday I wrote a post on Social Security and why I rely on affiliate links and my Etsy shop to supplement my income.

In the few months since I became an influencer with both Amazon, where I have an Amazon storefront, and LTK, where I share my online favorites, I have been finding just how difficult it is to get them going.

I kind of jumped into the middle of the pie instead of carving out pieces when I changed my blog theme, applied to Amazon, and then immediately applied to LTK after Amazon accepted me.

I was told it would take months to get accepted into LTK but imagine my surprise when I heard back the very next day. After the initial excitement, I realized that I had no idea what I was doing, and I mean no idea.

Like most things I do though, I just started learning it all, and now that it has been a few months and I sort of know what I am doing I need to start capitalizing on it all.

With that in mind, I am starting this new Saturday Shopping series to share some of my favorite finds.

Etsy Shop

I opened my Etsy vintage shop when Etsy was in its infant stages. Over the years I have watched it grow, and while it was growing I have worked it, not worked it, and worked it some more. Well, you get the picture.

I am definitely in the working it mode now because I love vintage and antiques and love passing them on to you.

My knowledge has come from a lifetime of studying and collecting vintage and antiques.

Some exciting news:

Over the next week, I will be adding vintage printables to my shop. I have a large collection of vintage and antique prints and maps and have decided to digitalize them to make them more readily available. Stay tuned.

A NEW NORMAL GROCERY SHOPPING

I am realizing more and more that the world we live in has changed and some days are just harder than others.

I used to love to pop into the grocery a couple of times a week to browse and purchase the things I needed for a few days. Walking around the store with other shoppers I would check out the produce, making sure I was happy with my choice, the deli enticed me with their daily offerings, the smells of fresh baked goods filled the air, and new and interesting items were generally on display.

These days grocery shopping has become an all day chore it seems. First I have to plan out what I think I will need for two weeks. I sift through my cupboards, refrigerator, and freezer making my list. Once that is done I go online and place an order for pickup, which is generally the next day.

Yesterday morning I arrived at 9 am which was my allotted time and the grocery worker was out loading them into my car within a few minutes. That was much better than last week when I had to wait 45 minutes.

Once I got them home I did my now usual routine of placing the bags in the front hall, taking out the food and washing off all of the containers before putting them away, and then checking to see what was missing. I would say that half my order was missing, plus the shopper had gotten me 10 plantains instead of 10 bananas.

Great!! I started doing curbside pickup to save myself the added expenses that I was incurring from Instacart, but just like last time I had to get on Instacart and order the things I didn't get.

Both the curbside pickup and Instacart are from Kroger. After placing my order with Instacart, I got a notice that the shopper had started shopping for my order, but then a couple of minutes later, after shopping two of the items, she quit and notified me they were looking for another shopper.

Okay, no problem, I had forgotten to put ketchup on my list and went into the app to do it. That's when I got the message that Instacart was down for maintenance. Seriously, in the middle of the day? When it finally came back up it said my delivery was delayed, but it still showed the two items as being shopped for and I couldn't add to my order.

Finally, three hours later someone new shopped my order. He even picked up the ketchup I wanted, and made up for all of the aggravation of the day (except the toilet paper was now sold out).

Grocery shopping is definitely not what it used to be, especially for those who must still shelter in place. Like most changes though we usually come to accept them and learn to live with a new normal.

SATURDAY SHOPPING #2

Yesterday my Simple Pleasures post was Where Does The Time Go. It seems like time just zooms by quicker and quicker these days. The holidays are quickly approaching and that means entertaining and shopping for gifts.

I am all about the ease of shopping these days, and with Covid still affecting our lives, it means that many of us will continue to shop online.

My Etsy Printables

I have spent the last couple of weeks learning how to turn my vintage prints (I have a ton of them) into Digital Downloads and last week I started putting some of them in my Etsy shop.

There will be prints and maps dating from the 1800s and 1900s. I have nature prints, kid prints, medical prints, art prints, and more. Because they are digital downloads they are perfect for you and for gifts. You can find them in the printables section.

H&M Fall Fashion

I am in need of some new fall clothes, but after searching online I found that most of the styles that I liked were just too expensive for those of us on a more limited budget or those of us who don't want to spend over $100 for a basic sweater.

That's when I remembered H&M.

I have bought some cute clothes from them in the past. They are trendy, but still great for older women, have held up well, and didn't break my budget.

SATURDAY SHOPPING #4

I am so grateful to see that the sun is actually still up there. We have had so much rain and I am ready for some pretty fall days.

All of the rain has kept me indoors though, so I have been able to search for some new clothes.

Sweater dresses are big this fall and this one is super cute.

I am not sure that I am going to have to pull out a winter coat this year in Georgia, and that suits me just fine, but for those of you who live further north, there are some cute jackets and coats to be found.
