OCTOBER DAYS AND FAMILY

Monday, October 11, 2021

There is just something about the month of October that creates feelings of nostalgia.

Growing up in Canada meant an October filled with apple picking, the county fair, the Canadian Thanksgiving, beautiful vibrant trees, and cozy nights around the fireplace.

Even after all of these years of being away I still feel a longing for those things.

Saturday night was a night that felt almost normal. Sidney was dancing in a show and as it was outdoors I felt comfortable attending.

That's my sweet Sid on the front right. Her hair was black last night. It changes color regularly, which keeps me on my toes when I have to pick her out in a crowd.

After the show we went to a pizza restaurant where we were able to eat outside and away from other diners. It was my first eating out experience since the beginning of the pandemic. It was wonderful.

It was a warm night. There was no apple picking, county fair, or cozy fire. Tessa and I huddled together and picked out stars, we ate pizza, and we laughed.

It felt like life might return to normal.

Just when you think life is never going to get tired of knocking you down, you find that the most important things have always been there.

So happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends. I hope your day is blessed with love and family.

I may always feel nostalgic for those long ago lost October days, but the memories will always be inside my heart and I will share those memories with my family.

Until we meet again join me on PinterestInstagramLTK, and Etsy.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful evening out! We sure have missed fun things like this...and I know we are so tired of it. I know you are happy to be near family now.

  2. Thank you so much for the Thanksgiving well wishes. I'm Canadian and Hubs and I had a lovely dinner at home last night. We're still not ready to broaden our horizons just yet, but you're so right about the most important things having always been there. There's so much to be thankful for :)

  5. Yes, October makes me nostalgic for when I was a little girl, and for my mom who always dressed our house for every holiday, and cooked and baked as that is what she loved to do.... feed her family and make the house warm and inviting. It was so wonderful to be wrapped in her love all those years. I tried to do the same while my kids were growing up and I hope they have those warm memories too. I'm glad you got to be with your family and eat pizza outside! I remember the first time I went out to eat.. that was last year probably June or July and it was outside. It was so wonderful to eat out and be waited on for a change! Marilyn

  7. I love October, too, here in the northeast. It's especially glorious towards the end of the month. It's good that you got out. We've been eating outside as much as possible, even looking for places with heaters. We need some normalcy, and it really helps.

  8. I so enjoyed reading about your night out! And so pleased for you. Sidney looks good with black hair. Maybe tomorrow it will be purple.
