AGGRAVATIONS AND SURPRISES

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

The world we live in right now seems to be full of more aggravations than surprises.

Friday I had planned to write about my aggravating day last Monday. It was one of those days where everything seemed to go wrong.

It started out with early morning tornadoes and went from there to a mid day electrical outage, half the cable TV channels being out, people not social distancing, etc. etc.

Now a week later, in hind sight, I can't even remember all of the things that went wrong that day. I guess they just amounted to aggravations and I wanted to update you on Trixie that day.

There were of course surprises too. A bag left on my door with chocolates was very sweet. Two phone calls from people just checking on me was also very nice.

On Friday Tessa called me on FaceTime. That's always a wonderful surprise. I feel very blessed and grateful that a seven year old likes to play with her grandmother, that we can laugh and have fun together over the phone.

The biggest surprise wasn't for me, but for my grandchildren. While we were talking my daughter and son-in-law returned home from an errand with four two day old baby ducks. They had previously had four ducks that the fox had picked off one by one.

I don't think I have ever seen Tessa so excited and I was also excited that I got to experience the whole thing with them. It was the next best thing to being there in person, and it reminded me that yes, we are living in scary times, but there are still little everyday surprises in this world.

I am shaking things up this week. My posts will come out on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I'm such a rebel. (Actually, I forgot to schedule my post for yesterday, but that will be our little secret. )

  1. I am glad you have shared your surprises with us. It is better to be positive and focus on the good in our lives. We have it so well - even during this virus, we have a safe place to shelter and high tech ways to connect. Many are not so lucky. Glad you are safe! Thanks for the uplifting post.

  2. That was wonderful that you got to witness their surprise. I hope they find a way to keep them safe because I know how it will upset the children if they lose some again. Life has changed yes, but in some ways for the better. Trying to look at the glass half-full here.

  3. How sweet you got to see the surprise right along with them. I hope they will stay safe from Mr. Fox. I think we all have those days where it seems like everything that can go wrong does. Glad that is behind you and things are looking up. Love the cartoon. So true!!!!!
Hugs and Happy Tuesday. At least I think it is Tuesday!

  4. Oh Laura, many of us have those days. It makes you wonder why you didn't sray in bed. Life goes on though.

Very exciting for ducks and hopefully nothing harms them.
