JUST FLAILING ABOUT

Someone asked me the other day what I did in water aerobics, and my response was oh, I basically just flail about.

At least that is what I feel like, that I and about thirty other older people are doing for one hour.

This is much prettier than a photo of me in a swimsuit

Yes, we have an instructor who stands by the pool and shows us exercises to do, but when you translate those exercises into things we can do in the pool, I imagine that it isn't pretty from where he is standing.

Nevertheless, I know I am getting a workout because I am exhausted when I get home.

I seem to be flailing about with other things too. I finally found some curtains for my living room window. Who knew it would be so hard to find light beige 95" curtains. I searched online for several days and then Saturday I schlepped over to the Pottery Barn in Lenox Square to purchase some that I had found online.

I know it was at least 300 degrees outside so by the time I found a place to park, walked through the mall, and walked down the stairs at the Pottery Barn I was ready to take anything.

Apparently I did just take anything, because after reversing everything I did in the previous paragraph, but carrying a heavy bag, when I got them home they were too long (96") and the wrong color.

Definitely flailing about.

The next day was another 300 degree day, but I set out anyway to return the drapes. There was a Bed, Bath, and Beyond nearby so I decided to go there. There they were, the exact boring light beige curtains I was looking for on sale, 95", and I had a coupon for an extra 20% off.

Ahhh shade!!

Not flailing about as badly that day.

Now I am waiting for Joseph to come and hang them for me. Joseph and Ben are the maintenance men here and they have been so helpful hanging things for me. I of course have done all of the pictures myself, but I needed someone to hang my plate rack, a couple of things in the kitchen, and my curtain rods because no one wants me to hang from the ceiling.

It won't be long before I can start to share photos of my new place.

Even with all of the flailing about, I love it.

  1. I just discovered your blog. I've always wondered about joining an aquafit class. Perhaps I could flail too. It's good for the joints and we have a pool nearby. It sounds as though the acquisition of the drapes was hard work!

    1. So nice to see you here. I really do love water aerobics. I have had both of my knees replaced and I have arthritis so it's great for that. You should try it.

  2. So happy your failing about is bringing results. Yes I agree it's been 300 degrees here in Georgia.

  4. Glad you did not give in to the heat and persisted and found the drapes you needed. Isn't it crazy when you are not looking for something you can see it everywhere and then when you want it begins a whole search. I cannot wait to see your place.

    1. I can't believe it was so hard. They are hung now so that ordeal is over. LOL

  5. I guess the heat you're experiencing is a lot worse than we have here. I don't think I could handle worse heat and humidity than we have here. I just about roast in the summer anyway. More and more I just order online. Standing is really hard with my ankle and that makes me make rash judgments about buying things. Rather sit in my chair and take my time. I found out about Shipt yesterday. They shop for you for a very modest monthly fee and here it's the local grocery store and Target. That's about all I need.

    1. It has been really hot, but today we are back in the 80s. Much better for this time of year. While my mom was still alive I signed her up for Shipt. She would make her list and I would order it and handle all of the details. They were always really sweet to her and would even put her groceries away for her. I made sure to give them a good tip.

  6. Hi Laura bravo to you for doing pool aerobics in the first place. It's great exercise.

Heard it's been hot down there. We have had more rain than I can stand, so depressing.

    Enjoy your weekend

  9. That was funny about flailing about.. I would probably do the same thing.. and I SHOULD because there's a really nice aquatic center about a mile from where I live! Maybe this year........... so glad you found your perfect curtains but what alot of work! Things like that are so great online, if you can only find the thing you are looking for! I made a big error in judgment and bought some rose curtains with flowers all over them and they DO NOT match at all... they really make my place look like "grandma's place" from the 1950s!!! I have so much stuff/clutter anyway on my shelves, that the flowered curtains make it look even worse. But I have them and they are up now, so will have to stay that way for awhile. I'm so bad at putting things up on the walls. We've been here over 3 years and still have pictures leaning against the walls. Ugh. I'm very anxious to see the inside of your new home! Hope it's cooler there.. we're having perfect weather.. in the high 70's and no wind. Love it! Marilyn
