DEALING WITH THE DEATH OF A PET

Saturday, January 17, 2015

Pets are a part of our families and when we lose them we mourn them deeply. As many of you know, I live with my older sister and with her Persian cat, Dinah.

When I got up this morning Elaine told me that Dinah had passed away in the night. Dinah who was almost eighteen stayed in my sister's room because I have a terrible allergy to cats. I had to love her from afar. My sister did not have children and Dinah was her baby.

So today I will be taking time to help my sister with her loss. I hope you will keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

  5. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about this for your sister. I treat our dog like one of my own children so I dread the day that he passes away too. It will be such a devastating day. I hope that she will be able to cope with her loss in a healthy way and find love again with another pet. I've been through many pet deaths myself and they're always so hard.

  6. I feel so bad...anytime you lose a pet, it's devastating. I was in the room when they put my big dog down. I promised him I would be with him til the end. It was so painful in more ways than one.

It's ironic that the blog before yours on my blogroll was a blogger who has just lost her beloved dog. So sad. Very ironic...

Love to your sister. I'm glad she was with her love when she passed.

Take good care of your sister and of yourself.

  13. Ohhh...I know firsthand how heartbreaking this is. In time she will heal and hopefully adopt another one or even two fur babies who need her as much as she needs them. As a pet portrait artist, many clients contact me immediately after losing a pet to help fill the void with a sensitive and realistic oil painting commemorating the love they shared. Also on my blog sidebar I have links to help console people in their tender time of need. http://jeanneillenyelookingafterthem.blogspot.com if interested at least under the "Grief Support" tab. Prayers to her and her lovely fur baby....

  14. I"m so sorry, please give your Sister a hug from all of us. Losing a pet is never easy, no matter how long we have had them in our lives. It's just not long enough for someone we love so deeply.
