a secret walk

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

I am so happy to be back. My internet is fixed after two and a half weeks, and I can now start posting again and catching up with all of you, my wonderful friends.

While I was in Atlanta, my daughters and grandchildren took me for a walk. Yes, I was able to walk pain free, and although I have a had a little setback with a ligament in one of my knees, it was wonderful to be able to walk with my grandchildren for the first time.

Both of my daughters live in Grant Park in the midst of Atlanta. It is a wonderful old city neighborhood filled with bungalows and old Victorian houses and one old farmhouse from the 1850's, which my oldest daughter and her family live in. I love looking at all of the homes, but that day we were headed for a secret walk.

For just a block from my daughters home, which is located on a busy city street, is this secret lane. It is a hidden country oasis that beckoned me in.

Suddenly, the noises of the city were replaced with serenity and the sounds of birds singing and unknown small animals rustling in the undergrowth.

I felt transported as to time and place.

As if I had been taken, somehow to a different place altogether.

At the end of the lane there is a railroad track. A track where trains normally run only at night. But on this magical day, we were rewarded with an engine to the delight of the children.

I hated to leave this magical place, but at the end we were greeted by these beautiful knockout roses.

And I left, knowing, that I would be able to return again when I make Atlanta my home.

If the woman doesn't give you your belongings she is asking for criminal charges...don't feel bad.
