EMBRACING THE AGING PROCESS

Monday, October 5, 2015

Let's face it, we are all getting older.

As I watch my daughters and grandchildren getting older it amazes me how quickly they change, and I see a reflection of my own aging in their faces.

We so often think of the negative aspects of aging, but there is so much to be positive about.

There is freedom that comes with aging.

We learn that we don't need everyone else's approval in order to live our lives the way we want.

We realize that we can dress how we want, think how we want, and make any changes we want without consulting with anyone else.

We also may realize that this is the way we should have been living our lives all along.

It can all be very freeing.

So I say let's embrace the aging process.

Let's look at ourselves with love. Let's focus on the positives.

  3. yes yes, lets embrace getting older, great advice, wise words,, I would never want to turn the clock back, never ever , even if it meant returning my eye sight to me, the past once lived is exactly that, the past,, the present is our gift,

  4. There are definite benefits to aging, and it's best to focus on those because the challenges of aging can be overwhelming. I'm enjoying where I am in life just now and have no desire to turn back the clock.

  6. Those of us who continue to age are the lucky ones! It seems everyone talks about living longer and how great that will be ~ but no one wants to age as they live longer. I don't think that is an option. So we do need to embrace the freedom and the wisdom that we earn with age and learn to live in the present and enjoy THIS day. It really is a gift we have been given.

  7. Well I guess you can find pros and cons with both. For me, I do best if I don't compare myself to younger people. I have to remember that I was young once too and they will get old someday! Then I feel like we're all on the same playing field. Ha ha.

  8. May I mention something that may not sound very nice. If you have parents and/or a whole family who are determined you will follow their ways and do what they say......get away from them. They are controllers and will never let you be who you are. I am 64 and I am just now getting to be who I am and enjoy life and the many things that make me feel good. I pushed ahead several times and did a few of the things I wanted but when family needed something they would tolerate nothing else but for me to do as they said. Just wish now that I had not listened. But I am enjoying now and gradually working toward being me and loving it. Laura, if this needs to be changed feel free to change what I have said. Thank you for this post.
