AN AFTERNOON AT THE GARDENS

Friday, March 3, 2023

The weather has been so amazing here that I just want to wrap my arms around it and give it a great big hug.

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are beautiful no matter what time of the year.

Yes, winter is a bit browner, but there is always the Orchid House which is so colorful and tropical that you can forget it is winter out.

Of course, we didn't have that problem the day we went as the weather was warm and spring flowers were starting to pop.

It is always so much fun having a girls' afternoon out.

The girls are so sweet. They love each other so much.

As you can tell Tessa has a tight grip on the map as she likes to be the one who gives us directions.

Good thing as I have been known to get lost in there.

Giant troll Atlanta Botanical Garden

We were lucky to experience Thomas Dambo's exhibition of enormous folklore-inspired troll sculptures built from reclaimed materials.

Dambo is considered the world's leading recycle artist.

The trolls are making their world premiere at the Garden.

I am so fascinated by all of the different orchids.

I wish I could grow them, but unfortunately, I didn't inherit my mother's talent who was a definite orchid whisperer.

I will definitely want to go back and see the exhibition again and of course, the Gardens are constantly changing so it is fun to go in every season.

  1. Hello sweet friend. I love that you got to go and enjoy such a great place. I was awful with Orchids too and then someone told me to just put an ice cube on top of the soil once a week and make sure they get sunlight. It worked. I was able to keep one alive. Have a good weekend. Hugs. Kris

  3. How fabulous! That's such a beautiful place to spend the day. It's still pretty brown here because we are so dry. I love the flowers you saw. Enjoy your week!

  4. Oh so pretty! I failed to comment on this one! I had looked at it on my phone, but the photos were so gorgeous, I wanted to wait until I could view them on my computer! I finally am! All th e green is so pretty.. we are totally still brown here in central Oregon.. not a green piece of lawn peeking up yet or any flowers... except my Irises tips are just now beginning to poke through the dirt. They have a long ways to go! The orchids are beautiful. My sister has a few and she seems to have a green thumb when it comes to them! I've never tried growing one! Marilyn
