EASING INTO FALL AND COVID

Saturday, October 3, 2020

I have really enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful photos of fall foliage on Instagram recently. So many places are at their peak of color.

Here in Atlanta I have seen very little evidence of fall, although our temperatures have lowered and I imagine that the cooler nighttime temps will bring on changes.

This is the only tree I was able to find this week that was in full on fall dress.

I'm looking forward to fall leaves.

In the meantime my zinnias are still producing and I was able to cut a bouquet for my apartment Thursday. It is nice to still have summer inside.

On the other side of my living room I have a fall vignette on my coffee table. It's a bit of both seasons.

I am really concerned for the health of people of this country. Whether people want to admit it or not, Covid is real and it doesn't discriminate.

Too many people are not following the simple guidelines of washing your hands often, social distancing, wearing a mask, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting surfaces.

No, these things don't provide 100% protection, but other than living in a bubble they provide the best protection we have.

Also, I want to make one more suggestion. Get your flu shot. I got mine ten days ago.

I am fortunate that I haven't lost anyone to Covid and I hope it will stay that way because I love you all dear readers.

Have a safe and happy weekend.

  1. Laura, I agree. People need to stay alert, not let their guard down. I still wipe places that get touched in my house, doorknobs, handles, door facings, counters, remotes, phones. Anyone can catch the virus, but we can also try our best to stay healthy. We got our flu shots Monday. The first time Ted was allowed to get one in two years. We will wear masks for a long time. Stay safe and enjoy the pretty colors when they come. It's very cold here for the next week. that may turn our leaves. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. I got my flu shot over a week ago. This is not going away any time soon.

  3. Hope you stay healthy. I just gave out flu shots to 50 first responders where Terry is fire chief. Police, fire and dispatch. It felt great to volunteer to give these out to all of them that wanted them. Some of my flowers are still hanging on but we are under a frost warning. Fall is here for sure. Have a good weekend. xoxo Kris

  4. I don't think that many people understand and comprehend that the pandemic is still very real. I, too, am very concerned about the health of people in this country. I haven't had a flu shot in years but made a decision recently to get one next week. It just makes sense as I'm getting older.

Stay safe and vigilant regarding your health. We've had to deal with Covid in my family. It's very scary.

  5. I hope you have a safe and healthy weekend as well, Laura. Fall is in full splendor here in New England!

  6. In my small town community, a lot of people are not taking this virus seriously. It is a shame, as small measures (mask wearing and hand washing) are so helpful. Stay well!
