IT WAS A LAZY SLEEPY DAY

For some reason I had a terrible time keeping my eyes open yesterday. I think that sometimes things just catch up with us and we have to have a full on day of rest.

I have been so busy lately and I guess it all just caught up with me. Friday was a miserable rainy day with a high of 42 degrees. After PT, grocery shopping at Kroger and Aldi, and a package dropoff at the post office I was very happy to be at home.

My apartment felt so cozy with my tree lit. I curled up with a cup of eggnog and relaxed for the evening.

Apparently I needed more than just a couple of hours of relaxing, because Saturday I felt like I had not slept in ages. Thank goodness I didn't have anything planned and I was able to just sit, read, and doze off. The dozing off happened more than I expected, because I'm not usually much of a day sleeper.

I have a couple of books that I had picked up at the library and as I didn't want to get into anything too heavy I decided to read the newest Janet Evanovich book.

Her books are such a hoot and definitely don't require any heavy thinking. Perfect for a do nothing day at home.

The sun was streaming in through the window and I was enjoying watching two squirrels chasing after each other on the wall next door.

I can't believe that Christmas is next week. I have a lot scheduled until then. Today I go to watch Sidney dance in the Nutcracker. I am really really looking forward to it. She has been working so hard this fall in preparation.

I just hope I am able to make it down all of the steps from the parking lot to the auditorium. I am seriously sick of this sprained knee.

My physical therapist says I seem to have tendonitis in the tendon that runs from my hip to my knee. I can't even stand for it to be touched. I go back to the knee doctor on the 23rd. I am hoping that I am miraculously cured by then. At least I have gotten the range of motion back in my knee, so that is some progress. At this point I'll take any progress that I can get.

Hope everyone has a happy Sunday and that you are able to relax and enjoy the time leading up to Christmas.

  1. I don't know if this will help, but they taught me, with my ankle, to approach steps like this: Stand sideways, go up one step with your good foot/knee, then follow with the bad one till they're both on the same step. Coming down steps, same thing. First put your weight on the good side, then follow with the bad side. It takes a bit longer, but when you bring your bad knee down, your other foot will always be on the step waiting and giving a sense of steadiness.

  2. Good Sunday Morning Laura. Have fun at the Nutcracker. I loved taking my girls to see that each year. I bet your granddaughter will be spectacular. I had tendonitis in my achilles that ran up to my knee and had PT which did nothing and then they put me on steroids and that finally did the trick. I hope you will start to feel better. Nothing more annoying than trying to get around and feeling like you are 100 with pain. Enjoy the Nutcracker.

  3. I'm so sorry about your knee! Perhaps you needed the extra sleep to promote healing. I love your warm cozy apartment! Your tree and decorations are so pretty. How wonderful to watch your granddaughter in the Nutcracker! That makes this a very special Sunday! We are going to a concert this evening and Louis Dean's great granddaughter is singing in it. It's a Concert and Dessert event! Pace yourself, my dear! Christmas IS coming!!

  5. Are you using a cane or walking stick to help you? I know.. as we get older, we hate using a cane, as then we look old! I used one for a few months when I fell on my knee 3 years ago, and even now, when it's acting up, I use a walking stick. Going up and down steps, I do it one at a time like Brenda said, not sideways, but going up one, then bring the other one up, then another, and so on. Works best for me. I love Janet Evanovich books too! I have to be in the mood to read hers, but do like her alot. I love books that take place on ranches, and mountains, etc., so love Janet Daily for those types of reads. Have a nice Sunday. Don't even have our tree up.. maybe later today! Marilyn
