CHRISTMAS MEMORIES AND ANOTHER BIRTHDAY

Every year we add to our Christmas memories.

We have the memories from childhood, of the excitement of Santa Claus, the anticipation of Christmas morning, and dinner around the table prepared by our moms.

When we are grown and have children of our own we create many of the same types of memories with them.

Then before we know it our children have families of their own and new memories are made.

My three grandchildren and their cousin

Each era is special in its own way. This Christmas has been one of the most enjoyable for me. Living in my own apartment near my daughters, son in law,  and grandchildren gave me the opportunity to spend Christmas eve and day with them while returning to the comfort of my home at night.

I think I may be feeling my age more. I don't know if it is because December 27th was another birthday for me, the last in my sixties or if I am just tired from the holidays.

My daughters and Sidney took me out to brunch on my birthday and then to see the new movie Little Women. The brunch was fabulous and I loved the movie. I rarely go to watch movies in the theaters so it was a treat, but the best part was our time together.

This weekend I have nothing planned and I am spending it relaxing, reading, and watching Netflix. I will have to take down the Christmas decor in a few days, but for now I am enjoying it and reflecting on the wonderful new Christmas memories.

  1. I am new to your blog but have enjoyed it so much. Your Christmas sounds wonderful and how lovely to have all your family together. For the first time two of my children were interstate but I had a lovely time with one of my daughters, her partner and grandson. He has just turned six so the magic of Santa hasn't gone yet.
I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year and look forward to more of your posts.

  2. Laura so glad you are enjoying the holidays being near your family. It is fun to see the kids enjoying Christmas and all the excitement they have around Christmas. Glad you had a nice day for your birthday. I am down watching my two grand girls this week while my daughter and SIL are in the Keys for a wedding. I am only 61 and really feeling old with how much these girls go go go! I will need a big nap after this week of staying with them. Have a great Sunday.
    Hugs,
    Kris

    1. Have fun with the grand kids. I seem to slow down a little more each year, but I plan to start back into water aerobics this next week. Physical therapist says I am ready.

  3. Happy Birthday, Laura! You and I are the same age so I know exactly what you mean. Beautiful Christmas pictures of your family! I was lucky to have all of my children and grandchildren visit for Christmas. It was wonderful, happy chaos and I was tired afterward! Back to our regular schedule and back to healthy eating and keeping active! I look forward to all of your posts! Happy New Year!

    1. I am back to healthy eating too. How is it possible that two weeks of holiday eating can undo seven months of hard work.

  6. Laura, I am so glad you had a good Christmas. We did too. It's the family together that makes it so good. We always let the girls give the parties now...let them clean and decorate. We all fix the food and pitch in. Blessings for a great new year. xoxo, Susie
