Well, I think I am going to have to just give up on the tomatoes. Apparently people have been stealing tomatoes and management has sent out letters, but I still lost one this past weekend. Also I now have a squirrel who is stealing from me. I can tell the difference because the squirrel eats half the tomato and leaves the rest on the ground.

The netting has not helped so I am going to try and not stress out about it.

Next year I will probably eliminate the tomatoes. On the bright side I am getting some very nice cucumbers and eggplants and my green peppers are coming on. My spaghetti squash plants are crazy with blooms, but no sign of any squash yet.

This year is a learning experience for me and I am having fun with it. Tonight I am going to make some eggplant parmigiana. I stopped by the grocery after water aerobics this morning to pick up a couple of the ingredients that I didn't have on hand.

This little guy isn't quite ready yet.

I'll let you know how it turns out. It is from the same cookbook as my eggplant tomato casserole, but this will be the first time I have cooked the parmigiana.

I've added a third day of water aerobics each week and have added weights to give myself a better workout.  I really like the classes, and although I haven't lost any weight I feel like I am getting in better shape.

Tessa's birthday was so much fun on Saturday. We had pizza and cake. Gluten free for me and my two daughters and regular for Tessa and Sidney. I came home after dinner while they went to the drive in movies. Movies make me fall asleep.

Sidney was doing her best to keep Tess upright.

I think Tessa was very happy with her day. She got the roller skates that she wanted and made a point to recognize that I got her something that was on her Amazon wish list. WHEW!!! It's nice when you actually do something right.

Monday I went thrifting. I am starting to get back into selling and am selling directly on Instagram as well as in my Etsy shop

Things are changing and I am trying to keep up with all of the changes. Teaching an old dog new tricks isn't always easy though. It takes us a little longer to go with the flow.

  1. Sorry you are having trouble with the tomatoes. Change is inevitable but it sounds like you are moving through it well.

  2. That's such a shame about the tomatoes, Laura - I'd be really irritated at that!!! Glad they aren't touching your other veggies, but really, they have some nerve!

  3. Such a shame about the tomato thief. What's wrong with people? They no respect which makes me crazy . Your eggplants look great.

I stink with Instagram but do what I can. I don't want to be that attached to my phone.

    Tessa sure is a beauty.

  4. Do you have any outdoor space at all such as a small balcony or something? Then you could plant veggies in pots.

  5. Hi Laura, I"m sorry you're having such trouble with the tomatoes. I planted my first garden this year and I went right into container gardening and to be honest it's been pretty much a bust. My husband finally planted some tomato plants directly into the ground and those are doing well. I planted a Japanese eggplant plant but it only produced one very strange looking eggplant...LOL.. I"m going to cut it open tomorrow and see what it's like. This is all new to me so Im having fun learning what to do and what not to do but not enjoying the expense of mistakes.

  6. That’s really sad about the tomato thief. Squirrels are such pests.....they have never stopped their antics until I get rid of them and that unfortunately is always short lived as another arrives soon after.......
