You may have been wondering where I have been the last couple of weeks. While I have been battling a respiratory infection, which doesn't seem to want to let go of its grip, I have also been doing something that I have always wanted to do.

I have opened my own vintage and antique online store. Yes, I have sold on other venues, but I have always just wanted a shop of my own. Well now I have gone and done it.

"It is an awesome thing to comprehend that what a human being dreams and imagines can be realized."

It was supposed to be easy to get it all set up but let me tell you it has been a work of love, and I do mean work. I am definitely not as computer savvy as a twenty year old, well maybe not as savvy as a four year old.

The company that is hosting my shop has been very patient with me. I'm sure they are probably rolling their eyes somewhere in internet land.

I've called my shop 415 Maxwell after the address of my grandparent's home. I spent every Easter and a month every summer at their home when I was growing up, and it was the place where I fell in love with antiques. I would go around their home admiring all of the treasures and breathing in the smell of history.

When I was feeling particularly brave I would sneak up to the attic to see all of the amazing things that were stored away there.

Later, after I was married, my grandmother allowed me to go up there and take whatever I wanted. She insisted there was nothing of value, but oh my goodness I came away with so many wonderful things.

All of my adult life I have been collecting vintage and antique goods, first for my own home, and later to sell. It is definitely a labor of love.

I have added the shop to my Facebook page and on Instagram. I would love to have you follow along with me on those two venues, but you can also find the shop by clicking on the SHOP 415 MAXWELL button at the top of this page.

So often we give up on our dreams, but it is wonderful when we hold on and time and technology allow for a dream to come to fruition. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead, but it is work that I welcome.

Do you have a dream that you are waiting to fulfill?

  1. Congratulations, Laura! My dream is to hit Lotto and be able to retire tomorrow, ha ha!!! :)

  2. Well that would be my first dream, but I figured I better have a back up plan. LOL!!

  3. Laura, I am so happy for you !! It is a true blessing to be able to enjoy this new beginning in your life. You are way more computer savvy than I am. I wish you the very best. I am thankful for people like you, who care about things from our take care and share them with other who love such things. I have a few things I will never part with, and will hope one of my girls will love it as well. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  4. I know you have wanted to open your own shop for awhile, Laura and I'm so excited you finally have! Can't wait to check it out!

  6. I'm so happy for you! I'll go have a look! I would probably like to travel more...some big dream trips! Hugs!

  7. Hi Laura,
I had to laugh at your comment about being 4 and computer savvy. I agree my 2 year old granddaughter knows more about my smart phone and the computer than I do!!! Congrats on following through on your dream of a shop. I am going there now to follow you. What a great adventure. Good luck.

  8. Oh Laura, I am SO happy for you! I will be going over to see your new store.

  9. How exciting Laura. I'm very happy for you. I'm not computer savvy either. I have my hubby who is my IT man.

  10. Hi Laura...Warm congratulations for your new shop and for realizing your life-long dream. Some people dream and do nothing. You dreamt and made your dream come to life. How totally wonderful! Susan

  11. Congrats Laura! I went to your FB page and am following you.... wonderful items in there already! My sister and I always wanted a little gift shop of our own.. never have.. so I sell on Etsy instead! She quilts her heart out and gives to many charities, friends and family too. We also now live in different states which is sad. You are courageous to follow your dream! Wishing you many happy returns with it.. and love the name and what it means to you. xoxo Marilyn
