It is the same market that they hold downtown on Saturday, but the parking is free and it is a bit closer to where I live.
There is still the same wonderful produce. I love the fresh smells and the warmth of a peach that has been picked that morning.
It is wonderful to wander down the row of booths and pick from all of the offerings.
Anyone for a juicy heirloom tomato?
Oh and of course we can't forget the entertainment.
It may not be Carnegie Hall, but it is down home folksy Kentucky .
There is definitely an eggplant tomato casserole in my future this week. You can find the recipe here.
Do you have a favorite farmer's market in your area?
I love the farmer's market and don't go nearly as much as I should!
ReplyDeleteI've never asked where one is here. But I need to do that!

the picture of those peaches is making me want to go buy some! We don't really have any good farmers markets close by. Just big box stores that sell produce. There are plenty north of us but we just don't drive near them too often. Glad you are enjoying one near you!
ReplyDeleteLaura - Those peaches make my mouth water. We have several Farmer's Markets here during the summer. Might have to check some out. We have peaches from Porter that are very popular around here.

Nothing better Laura than strolling through a farmers market and taking home the fresh produce. Those peaches look so yummy and scream summer treat!

Everything looks delicious and made me hungry. I flipped back to the eggplant recipe and saved it to try later. I also searched for that book at my library but they do not have it so I requested the Soup cookbook by Anna Thomas instead. It is really hot here and I may not make any soup now but I can always reorder in the fall.
ReplyDeleteIt's the peaches that I cannot wait for! One grocery store has horrible mealy peaches from CA ( I only try 1 or 2 before buying more ) and another's California supplier is much better..2 days in a brown paper bag and they taste 'real' but it should not be long till a local farm has REAL PA PEACHES and I am just holding my breath waiting for that summer treat.

ReplyDeleteI was at my favorite farmer's market this morning! It's every other Saturday, about 7 miles down the road. Love it, and I try to make a point not to miss too many of them in the short season!
