I know that some of you have been wondering where I have been and why I haven't let you know what is going on.

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I posted, but I have actually been quite ill.

I contracted some type of bacterial intestinal illness that was extremely virulent and caused me to get colitis.

It was the sickest two weeks I have ever spent in my life, and during that time I had what I can only describe as a near death experience.

Thank goodness for my mother, who brought me things I needed every day and kept on me many times a day to make sure I was hydrating.

I have spent this last week recuperating, and although I am not 100% back to my normal self, I am so much better.

Tomorrow I am packing up my probiotics, Greek yogurt, kombucha tea etc. and heading down to Atlanta.

My two daughters went to North Carolina last week and oversaw the loading of my storage unit into a You Pack. That You Pack is now sitting in my daughter's driveway and I am going down to spend a week with my family looking through my things and deciding what I want to keep.

I think all of the grandchildren hugs and kisses I will get will definitely help in my recovery.

I will probably not post again until I get back home, but then there may be something I just can't wait to share.

Thanks so much to those of you who checked on me. I can say that being so ill made me realize what is truly important in life and so I will probably cut back on posting for at least the rest of the summer.

  1. Oh Laura, I am so sorry to hear you were so ill. Glad you are better and I know visiting your girls and your grands will make you feel so much better. Happy to hear you don't have to go to NC and just to Atlanta to get your things. I've had a bit of rough year so I can relate to realizing what is really important! My Mom is moved in next door to me now and life seems to be moving forward. Big hugs to you.

  2. Glad you are recovering! Have fun with family! I enjoy your posts but can be patient. Take care of yourself!

  3. I'm sorry to hear you have been so ill! Hope you are feeling much better soon! xo

  4. Thank you Laura for letting us know what awful thing has attacked you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sounds like it was an awful and scary experience. It will be good for us to know what you learned. Take care...3 years after my move I still have something's I want to use in the barn. I just got out there to get them this week and I'm enjoying them. If it takes you a long while to get settled don't worry. I think moving is very difficult.

  5. So sorry to hear about your illness, Laura. That must have been simply horrible. Take care and get better.

  6. Oh Laura, I'm SO sorry to hear that you've been so sick! I suffer with ulcertative colitis and know just how debilitating it can be. It causes severe dehydration and fatigue. It often requires hospitalization to get it under control when it's so bad. People who have never experienced it, just have no idea how serious it is! I hope that you're on the road to recovery and won't have a relapse. It's good to know that you have a lot of family support at this time. It takes a village! Ha! Good luck with the rest of your move this summer and take care of yourself.

  7. So sorry to hear you were so sick.... I wonder what bug you got??? that is so scary. My husband and I both got something last winter right after Christmas and we both thought we were going to die for a few days there. I have no idea what it was but it was awful. It took weeks and weeks to feel normal again and I"m glad you are on the mend. Moving is so long and involved when we have to sort through our stuff and decide what to keep or not to keep.. very emotional and wearing. We've been in our new (old fixer) place now for 8 months and I'm still facing many tubs to go through and sort out and having a sale this summer (which I swore I'd never do again after our last sale!). But life trudges forward... take your time and enjoy your family and glad you have many there to assist you when you need it. Take care!

  8. Poor Laura, how awful for you! I remember getting Salmonella Poisoning years back, when the girls were little, and I truly thought I was dying. What an awful feeling! Please rest up and heal thyself....xoxo

  9. laura, I hope you are better. Sorry you were so ill. I have missed you. I can now leave comments. Blessings to you, be safe. xoxo, Susie

  10. Laura,
I am so very sorry that you have been so sick. Thank goodness you are gaining strength and getting back on your feet.
Don't overdo, eat what you can and rest as much as you can too.
Thinking of you and sending healing thoughts too.
