I just got the call this past week and didn't think it would happen this quickly once they called.
I'm excited, but I also realize how much there is to do. I am of course making a list. (Is there a limit on how long a list can be?)
I think "retirement" might not be exactly accurate. Of course there are people living in the apartments who are retired, but I don't see myself exactly in that category. I am over the age of 62, but I see myself as having a very busy and long life ahead.
I am looking forward to finally having my own home again, a place where I can shut the door behind me and know I only have myself to answer to, a place that I can decorate how I want, a place where I feel safe and secure.
I am also looking forward to going to North Carolina next month, cleaning out my storage unit, dividing some things between my daughters, keeping what I want and need, donating and tossing other things, and putting that part of my life behind me.
The future looks bright.
That's a big change, for sure. I hope you'll love it, Laura - and with a bright attitude, I'm sure you will! Love your flower pics. So cheering. xo

Laura, I am so glad you are finally getting your own apt. You have been waiting so long. I love having my own place and living my life on my own time. Enjoy your trip to NC and put that part of your life behind you. Can't wait to see how much fun you have decorating.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Can't wait to hear more about this adventure.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a dream come true. Lots of work but when it is done you are free. I can't move yet but I'm spending spring and summer cleaning out the pole barn and a small storage room in house. In barn years of accumulation from my parents things too. But when done ....happiness all over....after some rest. 😀
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! You've been very patient. Exciting times ahead, my friend.
ReplyDeleteLaura so glad you will have a new nest of your own soon. We close next week Friday on our new nest but gave the sellers 30 days to move out so it will be a patient wait to get in for another month. I cannot wait to get started on my new place. I know exactly what you are saying about wanting a place to yourself and call home. Good luck with the move and going through and sorting all your stuff in storage. Better days are head and new and exciting adventures. Hugs,

Good luck, Laura! It's been a long time coming but it's finally time.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do with the new place. A lot of work but very exciting!
xo, T.
Laura, I am so happy for you!! There's no better feeling than having a home of your own that feels safe and secure - I can vouch for that! It's a wonderful feeling to know you can nest, and settle in, and not have to move again for a long, long time. I wish you much peace in your new home, sweet friend - best of luck! xo
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your moving, Laura. I hope you enjoy your new home and make lots of good friends. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new adventure. Look forward to seeing pictures.
ReplyDeleteExciting news! I wish you the very best in your move to the new home.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you! I hope you'll share how you make of that apartment your home.
ReplyDeleteI am THRILLED for you my friend. And you'll love living there. We live in a retirement community but everyone is VERY active! I'll keep you in my prayers. Hope things go well with the move! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this day has come for you. Good luck with your move (and the chintz settee. I'm reading backwards today.)
