This morning as I sipped my tea watching the neighbors come out of their houses with snow shovels to help the cars that were getting stranded I decided it was a perfect day for some lentil soup.
I love gathering together the fresh organic ingredients.
That's my mom's old fish cutting board. It helped in the creation of many years of delicious meals.
The soup is now simmering on the stove, sending wonderful smells throughout the apartment.
I guess I need to emerge from my cocoon and head across the street to take care of some errands. At least the sun is shining today and it is going to be a "balmy" 21 degrees.
I plan to have on so many layers that no one will know who I am. Now all I have to do is figure out where in the heck I put that scraper for my car.
You got a pretty snowfall Laura! Exciting. You are fortunate that it won't last long and the cold spell will be gone before you know it. At least I hope so!! Take care and be safe on the streets. Hugs. Pam
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it is going to get much colder before it gets better. Spring should be here soon, though :)
DeleteOur days sound so similar. :) I've never had homemade Lentil soup. I bet it's delicious! Enjoy and stay safe!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Marie
You should try the lentil soup sometime, Marie. It's perfect for these cold days and easy to make.
Deletemy days are very much like yours as well, that is my favorite soup, well one of them, the photos are lovely, even though we are 5 ft under snow I still love it!
ReplyDeleteFive feet is a lot of snow. I'm afraid I am not much of a snow bunny anymore. Isn't lentil soup wonderful? It was perfect when I came in from digging my car out. Now I just need a heating pad :)
DeleteWow- that is a lot of snow for your area! Love the soup and it is perfect for a snowy day. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt is a lot of snow for us, Diana, and we are supposed to get more tomorrow. I may be in for the rest of the week.
DeleteA perfect recipe for a day like this! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteIt was perfect, MIchelle and leftovers for tomorrow.
DeleteI love lentil soup! One of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Mine too, Brenda.
DeleteThe soup looks good. I kept seeing photos of KY on the weather channel today! What a lot of snow you got! Hope you were able to get out and you're warm and safe tonight! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI'm nursing my sore muscles from digging the car out. Tomorrow more snow :(
ReplyDeleteThe soup sounds good. We have some snow, too, and I was thinking how pretty it was today, but I prefer seeing it from the warmth of my cozy home. I need to get out tomorrow, so I'm hoping the snow tapers off here as it has started to fall. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThe soup was and is good. I love having the leftovers to heat up. THe weather is so cold and going to get much colder before it gets better. Hope you can stay in and stay warm.
Deletewe have been iced in...until Saturday. Cold temperatures and several inches of ice. We tried to clear the driveway today...2 hours literally cutting the ice with 2 root cutters...not that I plan to go anywhere until Saturday, when temperatures should go above freezing. 2 more days, 2 more days...
ReplyDeleteI hate ice. I'm not a big fan of snow, but I would rather have that than ice. Please be careful, Daniela.
DeleteLentil soup sounds yummy! Our son-in-law made some for all of us on New Years Eve. Love your fish cutting board! We don't have as much snow as usual. Just COLD! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe're in a really frigid spell in IL. bitter cold, so I stay in my PJ's too. Nothing better than soup and on one of my favorites is lentil soup. Love that dish butcher board that was your Moms. Stay warm. Sorry to hear about your uncle.
ReplyDeleteI know it is not usual to have such a snow fall and freeze there Laura. I'm glad you were able to stay safe and warm at home. I love lentils sup! It is so delicious and does not need to boil for hours like other beans.
ReplyDeleteLove lentil soup. Stay warm
