I mean seriously, how many bags of brown rice does one person need.
It couldn't possibly be because I was too lazy to check my pantry before I went shopping. I really think that those bags just jumped off the shelves and into my cart when my back was turned.
You might have a good idea what I will be eating for the next month. Anyone have any good rice recipes to share with me?
After I threw out everything that expired
And what is with all the boxes of plastic bags, aluminum foil, and wax paper?
The only thing they seem to be doing is holding up the toppling old cookers. There might be a concussion in my future if I try to pull one of them out. Maybe I will just leave them as they are. No one will know if I just shut the door, and I know you won't tell.
I'm sure if I keep on digging that I will come across a couple of cans of tuna. Anyone want to join me for a tuna, chia seed, rice casserole? Hmmmm!!! Somehow, I didn't think so.
Enjoy your day.
lol, that sounds like an interesting combo! I think we are all guilty of buying things we already have,
ReplyDeleteAt least I didn't find any spiders lurking back there :)
Deletebrown rice sounds yummy! laughing at all the saran wraps, though. :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously. You'd think I was getting ready to wrap a mummy :)
DeleteI think many people do this. I find that I let things expire if I go out to eat much. So in winter we cut back on that treat. Hope you can get you some nice rice recipes. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie. I may be forced to go out and buy some more ingredients :)
DeleteYou make me giggle...because well, I am sure I have had the same thing happen in my pantry before, once or twice...
ReplyDeleteOf course not! I am super organized, and everything is color coded by both purchase date, and expiry date, and updated automatically by my new "gotcha no way that would ever happen in my life" app.
Those super organized pantry's only happen in Pinterst Land...LOL. \
The best I can offer is almost everything is in Mason Jars, and some of them actually have labels on them...
Jen
I'm impressed with the labels on Mason Jars. I actually bought some glass canisters yesterday at the thrift store to store some of my rice :)
Deletexo Laura
LOL I am OUTTA here...first Brenda was cleaning her ceiling fans ( i should do that ) and you are cleaning stuff too ( I should do that )
ReplyDeleteYou people are a bad influence!
That's what you get for hanging out with such terrible company. (not Brenda, just me) Cleaning her ceiling fans? I clean mine by turning them on. I figure the motion will just blow the dirt right off. Wonder why my allergies are so bad :)
DeleteI am still laughing...I so hear you on the brown rice. And brown sugar. And cans of tuna. I will definitely take a pass on that casserole! Ha!
ReplyDeleteJane xx
Gosh, Jane. You were the first person I was going to call :)
DeleteI went through our pantry last week and found some outdated items too. It's funny how we bring food home because we think we're all out. I AM out of brown sugar, white sugar and flour though! I'll be watching to make sure the rice doesn't hop in my cart though. :)
ReplyDeleteKeep your eye on that rice. It can be pretty tricky :)
DeleteI have to agree with you on the rice hopping in the cart. I found six, count them six containers of brown rice. I can't imagine using it up in the next year. I wonder if the family would mind rice instead of mashed potatoes? Some how I think not. It is nice to know I am not the only person who is being invade by whole wheat rice. If you get any good recipes pass them on. Debbie
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Laura,
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about how I need to clean out my pantry too. It is a scary thought but I am sure I have many expired and weird things lurking in my pantry too. Hope you find some good rice recipes to use up your brown rice.
Kris
Our pantry is weirdly similar to yours! At one point I made an anti-shopping list, listing the things we must NOT buy because we had so much on hand. It's good to know that we're not alone . . .
ReplyDeleteYou know this is funny I have a lot of bags of brown rice in my pantry too and I have no idea why My Hero does not even like it:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I so need to be doing the same thing. Our pantry is so messy right now, it's easier to just go buy then look in there. I need to spend a day doing exactly what you did! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLaughing out loud, Laura. The only problem with decanting to glass jars is cutting out the package directions to stick in the jar. Is it one cup of water or two and a half? Can I mix three different kinds of brown rice in one jar? If you want a real belly-buster you should see under my kitchen sink.
ReplyDeleteLOL Laura, that combo may be interesting. After your finished it will feel good
