seeing through your heart

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Last night I was talking to my younger sister, who lives in Arizona. We were discussing a situation that I was having difficulty with and she said, "you need to see it with your heart, instead of your mind".

Yes, I know as a counselor, that we often have to get our inspiration from others. I work on seeing things through the eyes of my heart rather than with my mind, but it isn't always easy.

Often there are thoughts and feelings that are blocking us. That is when we have to take a good look at the block and work our way through it. It is important to be gentle with yourself while you are working through the block. Take time to process your feelings. How does it feel to open your heart? How are your feelings different when you see something through your heart rather than through your mind?

Learning to look at things with your heart takes time and practice, but just like most exercises it is worth the effort.

  1. I understand's hard to do at times. I hope it worked for you. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  2. A friend of mine recently took up walking. Each day she would walk so far and turn back to her house. One day she realized she was halfway around her route and decided to keep walking forward. Good thought. Keep going, Laura.

  3. Hello Laura...I am much better at thinking through my heart than through my mind. Sometimes it has not been beneficial. I can, however, with concerted effort, think through my mind and when I do, I'm more rational.

Hope you have a nice weekend. Susan

  4. I always find that a day or two away helps me think things through...and seeing through our hearts is a great idea.

  5. I think it's a lot more difficult and emotional to look at things through our heart...
