the days of autumn

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

As I look outside, I see the clouds rolling in and the trees swaying in the wind.

This is so typical of fall weather here in central Kentucky. Today the high temperature will be near 70 degrees, but tomorrow it will only be 52.

Like the changing weather, the trees are in varying stages of dress or undress,

and everywhere I turn I see nature readying itself for the cold months ahead.

I wonder what lies ahead. The road is so full of promises.

Where will it lead me? Wherever it is, I am filled with gratitude for all of the possibilities.

Because just as the seasons will change so will the paths we choose to follow in life. Sometimes we may choose to take a right turn,

and other times we may choose to turn left,

but that is what keeps life interesting.

So as the leaves fall and the weather turns colder, I think about my choices and the continuing wonder of life.

I hope you are embracing your choices, too.

  1. I love this post my friend. I love the pic with the path leading to all the possibilities. JUST Beautiful -Thank you for taking us to beautiful Kentucky. Been years since I was there. I LOVED IT then and great to see it again

  2. Such a beautiful and wise post. If someone told me a year ago that I would be leaving Idaho I would have laughed. We never know what is ahead, but so often what lies ahead is better than before. Kentucky is such a beautiful state and your photos reminded me how much I would like to return for a visit. Enjoy every turn on your path.

    Susan and Bentley

  3. An excellent post. Yes, we all have to make our own choices and pray they are the right ones.

  4. Laura, I love the wonderful photos. The wind and rain are taking their toll on our fall foliage too. It is disappearing quickly. Today is a gray one and sometimes that makes me sad. So i do chores, pray, read, and write to keep busy. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

  5. I am sure that wherever the road takes you, Laura, it will be right where you are supposed to be. Life sure has a way of putting some twists and turns in that road- xo Diana

  6. Such pretty photos! I'm envious of that bright blue sky!

  7. What beautiful Fall photos! We are finally seeing lots of color here and enjoying gorgeous mild weather too. I wish it would never change! I think Fall is a great season to think about transition in your life just as it is in nature. I hope the new road takes you where you want to go.

  8. I love that shot of the road ahead. The weather in central KY is a bit crazy!

  9. Loved your phrase "the wonder of life," Laura. There is soooo much wonder in life, isn't there? Each day-----each moment----is such a gift. It's so good to be alive!

When bad times come, we know they will end, so that makes getting through them possible.

    Loved your photos. Gorgeous. Susan
