I was just reading a post on Cozy Little House on some of the things she is doing to pursue a cleaner and greener life. It was a wonderful post, as always, and you can read it here.
One of the things I have done to improve my overall health was to start a walking program. I am so filled with gratitude to be able to walk again after so many years of debilitating knee pain.
I am not only able to enjoy my own neighborhood,
but I was able to take long walks on the beach, while on vacation,
and I am able to get out and enjoy the beautiful country roads again.
The walking brings me a wonderful sense of calm and serenity.
This pursuit of calmness and serenity is one part of my pursuit of a simpler life.
In the coming weeks I plan to share more of what I am doing and learning in order to have a simpler more serene life.
I feel a wonderful sense of gratitude.
I love walks! They clear my head in more ways than one! great post! laura
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you can get out and walk again. My mom is scheduled to have her knee surgery on her other leg this week, so hopefully she'll be out doing the same very soon.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are able to take walks again!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are beautiful!
I completely agree with you about the benefits of walking. Aside from the health benefits (both physical and emotional) when I walk I notice things I never do when speeding by in a car. Wish I could take a walk with you!
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,

We're on the same journey, but in separate states. I hope more join us.

Oh, and I'm not quite to the walking stage yet. Hopefully soon. I miss scouting the neighborhood for birds.

I also love walking and really need to get back to it more then I am! I'm with you on the simpler life!!
ReplyDeleteLaura,
ReplyDeleteI just started to walk and am loving it. I agree it gives you an inner calm and serenity. Love the fresh air too.
Kris
I try to walk an hour every morning. It's a great way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteLaura- I walk on a treadmill here because I would have to drive somewhere to walk safely. There is nothing like walking outdoors though. Good for you for doing that. I am with you- I so need to seek a simpler life. There is just too much going on too much of the time. Blessings- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWalking is among my most favorite exercise. And I hear that it's good for you...lol.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you can do what you love again.

One of my favorite ways to exercise is by walking (more than a stroll), lol. I have a treadmill but not a big fan (boring)...but I do have to use it in the winter when there's snow or ice on the ground or it's simply too darn cold!
ReplyDeleteHurray for you! I am so inspired...I have and I need to get into a walking routine again. And the beauty of the outdoors makes it such an inspiration. I just found your blog and love it. I'm a new follower!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
hubby and I take a walk together every night after dinner, then we take our pups. :)
ReplyDeleteWalking is such great exercise. I need to get back at it again! Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteNot to sound like a downer but walking and being able to take walks is the one thing I miss so much. It is hard to go for a nice long walk when using a cane and having MS. It uses a lot of energy, I am grateful that I can at least still walk though. I just lose myself in doing my Pilates and I am grateful for that!!!
ReplyDeleteWalking down the hill to the mail box and back again is my exercise walk. Otherwise I am a stroller, I stop and look at so much I never reach any speed. I'm glad you are able to get out and walk again.
