"Remember always that you not only have the right to be
an individual, you have an obligation to be one. "
Eleanor Roosevelt
I love that quote. As I wander around on my morning walks, I notice all of the flowers in my neighborhood.
The flowers don't compete with each other.
They don't look at the flower next to them and think, uh oh I am not as thin as that flower.
or that flower is prettier than me.
or people don't like me as much as they like that flower.
As women, we tend to spend too much time agonizing over the norms that society has set for us. As we age, we realize that just like the flowers, we are all beautiful in our own right.
We were created to be beautiful just as we are, to grow and lift our faces to the sun, and shine as the individuals we were meant to be.
So, I hope as you pass a mirror today, you will pause and look at yourself and say, "I love you and you are perfect just the way you are."
You are certainly perfect to me.
I tell my daughter the same thing. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteGood post, Laura.
ReplyDeleteAging isn't easy!
Bravo, Laura. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, Laura. It is hard not to compare ourselves sometimes. My only two sister-in-laws are both Twiggy models and then there's me. When I am with them I feel like the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about!;>) LOL- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said, Laura. And a reminder to all of us that we are indeed beautiful in our own right.

Great post, Laura! I think as I grow older I am learning to do that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and even better words!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Laura, but aging is a hard thing for any woman!!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Beautiful photos and every woman should read those words!
ReplyDeleteNicely put Laura, and so true.
ReplyDeleteFunny how the older we get the more we accept our true worth inside of our hearts, instead of what we look like outside.

thank you. i needed this today. bless you for this uplift.
ReplyDeleteThat first quote is very inspirational! It's sometimes very difficult to be true to the individual we are. Yesterday I met the director of one of the school I'll work in from Sept. 1st and I could see in her eyes that she didn't like very much the fact that I didn't exactly study like the other teachers...
ReplyDeleteVery sweet post Laura,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful flowers. And I love Eleanor Roosevelt quotes.
ReplyDeleteIt would be easier to stick with my walking regimen if I had such gorgeous flowers to see along the way!! Thanks for sharing with us.
