BOO HOO IT'S FLU

Twenty years ago I had the flu. It was a nasty virulent thing that I never wanted to have again.

Every year I have taken my flu vaccine and watched while other people suffered.

Tuesday my muscles started hurting and I chalked it up to my slip and slide fall on Sunday. No big deal.

Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock I woke feeling like a semi had run over my body and rolled back and forth over it to seal the deal. I was also having chills and running a fever. Uh oh apparently not the fall.

By 9 that morning I was at the doctor's office getting a prescription for Tamiflu.

Fortunately, although I am definitely not feeling well, this bout with the flu is much better than the one 20 years ago. I think the vaccine and the Tamiflu have kept it to a mild roar.

While I have been housebound for the last few days fighting cabin fever, I have been thinking about spring and summer and flowers.

Thus the theme for the photos and while I continue to recuperate I am going to focus on flowers.

  2. Laura I get the flu shot each year and so far this year I've stayed well. I think with my surgery and staying in for weeks and weeks have helped. I hope you feel better soon! Rest, fluids and more rest!!

  3. Laura, Sending hugs to you...it's never fun being sick, and this new flu is scary. Glad you got right to the drs. for help. I have been lucky so far. Knock on wood and cross my fingers. Thinking of spring and it's pretty flowers is a good way to spent time while confined to the house. Drink plenty of liquids...that's the mommy in me , always reminding people of that. LOL Recently my daughter had the flu, tried to go to work...I told her drinks lots of liquids and stay home for the rest of the week , at least...She goes to the dr. They tell her, "Go home and drink lots of liquids and stay home from work." But they did do a chest x-ray checking for pneumonia...Looks like I need an x-ray machine to be as good as the dr. LOL. Take care honey. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. Get well soon, Laura. My DIL has it and is not doing well at all! She had the shot and Tamiflu and is still experiencing all the worst symptoms that flu offers.

Glad you are not as bad as you could be but it is still nothing to fool around with. Use your computer to 'travel' until you feel better. Hope the rest of your Sunday is a good one. xo Diana

  6. Take care of yourself. I had what sounds like the exact same thing in early November, just a few days after I got my flu shot! Felt rotten for 5 days, then semi rotten for a few more and then just "not good" for a couple of weeks. was long and drawn out but feeling OK now. Hubby got it next but not as bad as me and he has never had a flu shot! go figure. I think it's the pot of coffee he drinks every day! Hope you are back to par soon.

    1. Unfortunately it takes two weeks for the flu shot to take effect. This year apparently it has been less effective than normal and there is more than one type of flu going around.

  7. Glad you could get the Tamiflu. There is a shortage near us. Sending healthy wishes your way Laura. Glad the meds and rest are helping. Take care.
