FAT TUESDAY AND THUNDERSTORMS

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

No, I am not attending Fat Tuesday celebrations. My fat Tuesday has an entirely different meaning.

My fat Tuesday has to do with the fact that I stepped on the scales this morning. Eeeek!!

Apparently I thought that sitting around for two months and eating whatever I wanted would be okay.

So I am only showing my feet, and there will be a drastic change in my eating and exercising if I want to get into any of my summer clothes.

The lamps are all lit in my apartment today. About 5:30 this morning I was rudely awoken by something that sounded like a bomb going off. It shook my whole building.

We were having a doozy of a thunderstorm and thunderstorms are forecast for the rest of the day.

Good day for me to stay home and catch up on some things I need to do.

I recently opened my Etsy shop back up and I need to get some new listings up and running. Don't you love this creamer and sugar that I found at an estate sale. My favorite pattern.

This is my little plant hospital. It is where I am putting the new plants I have propagated and my basil plant that I have nursed over the winter.

This window is in my bedroom so it is one of the first things I see in the morning. As plants always make me happy (unless they are dying) it makes a great start to my day.

What do you do on rainy days? Do you just go about your normal routine or do you have a rainy day plan?

  1. Your day sounds perfect to me!! Your plants look so happy and your apartment is so cozy. I still can't believe you are moving again. Try weight watchers, it works great for me!!

  2. Love your little plant hospital! We haven't had storms in some time. Rain, yes. But I love that thunder! I'm gaining weight too. I just can't get around to lose it! So frustrating. I tried to do a little cleaning today, but ankle pain quickly put a stop to that.

    1. It's hard to clean or do exercise when we are in pain, and it does make it frustrating wen we want to lose weight. I wish your ankle would heal.

  7. I have watched my weight for a few months. Best tips are: fruits, vegetables, lean meat, lots of water, herbal teas sometimes with honey, one chocolate kiss or two each day and I use my exercise bike. Plus stretches. Get some ideas from yoga you tube on line. Keep portions small. For a while you will be hungry but soon the feeling will leave. I have two tablespoons of Kiefer when I'm hungry. Have lost almost 20 pounds. Will take a few more months to get to 30. Hope all goes well for you.

    1. Thanks for the tips and congratulations. I was actually doing most of that and lost close to 20 pounds, but being sick for two months kind of threw me off. I'm now back at it .

  8. Sounds like our weather here outside Chicago. We had tornado's and severe thunderstorms yesterday too.
So weird for February! No paczski for me on Fat Tuesda. I got on the scale too and need to get into gear and get some more weight loss going too. So I am with you. Have a great day.

    1. Now that the weather is turning warmer, I am going to hit the pavement walking again. That seems to work best for me.

  9. Love the sugar and creamer, Miss Laura. I've had that scale shock attack recently and it's no fun. Have a good week.

  10. On a rainy day, I pretty much do the same thing.... putter, read or play on the computer or craft! We don't get many totally rainy days here.... usually it's an hour or two and then the sun comes out! I love it.. so don't mind the rain now and then... compared to when I lived by Portland, Oregon and we would have WEEKS of rain and gray days. In this dry climate, I enjoy the rain now. It does make me feel less guilty to just stay in and craft though. I've gained a few lbs since last July when I fell and hurt my knee.. have been pretty inactive since then... just now getting into walking again so will take months of walking and exercising to lose 20 lbs. like I should! Why is it so hard to make ourselves exercises and walk? I maybe just speak for myself though! Congrats on reopening your Etsy shop.. I just closed mine, but may reopen it again as am going through "Etsy withdrawals"!!! Was fun to wake up each day and wonder if I had a sale... and was always thinking.. hum.m.m.m what can I make for my shop? I just wasn't getting many sales anymore since they made so many changes in their search criteria. Enjoy that thunder and have a good Wednesday. Marilyn

    1. Etsy has become much harder to sell on. I plan to just keep mine open a few months out of the year. I need to sell all of these vintage items I have accumulated. Getting out and exercising does take a lot of determination. Once I get in the habit it is much easier so for now I just have to force myself.

  11. On rainy days I love to do housework. All my plants and flowers are faux as I have an extreme brown thumb. Ugh, the scale!
