RESTRUCTURING LIFE

I can't believe it has been eleven days since I wrote my last post. I loved all of the memories you shared of your childhood summers. So many of us seem to share the same memories.

I wonder what the children of today will remember when they are older. I hope it isn't summer days spent sitting in an air conditioned house all day playing video games.

I have been very busy these last eleven days. Setting up my new booth. Taking care of my mom after oral surgery. Going to auctions. Setting up my cozy home. Etc. Etc.

Now I feel like it is time to add some structure to my days. Too much running around. I want to have time to just sit and relax on my new chair and ottoman.

Oh, did you notice that after four months of searching I finally found what I wanted. It was in a lovely consignment store and it had been reduced to $120. It is more of a deep gold color than shows in the photo, but I am having a difficult time getting good photos.

The beautiful vintage wool rug is a new addition. I found it at an estate sale for forty dollars.

The basket beside my chair holds projects I am working on, books to read, and the remotes for the TV. It was twelve dollars at an auction, but I sold the contents that came with it in my booth so it was free.

Back to the restructuring. What I am trying to do is create a more workable schedule for the things I need to do each week. I have to visit my two booths twice a week so I am working out which days are best for that, I want to write my blog twice a week, and I have to go to live auctions and yard sales and bid on online auctions. I also still have some things on Etsy so I have to monitor that.

Then of course there are always the personal things that need to be done and time to relax.

I am going to sit down on my comfortable chair with my feet up and see if I can work it all out.

Do you organize your time, or do you just kind of wing it each day?

  1. I'm glad you got a comfy chair and ottoman! Can't beat a cozy spot to sit. I pretty much stay online from the time I get up until about 6 p.m. Always so much to do! But I keep telling myself I need to carve out time for other things.

    1. I think I am burnt out on the internet. So I am trying to stay off the computer more. Having the two booths means getting out and driving around more. It also means more personal interaction.

  2. I like to have a plan but with flexibility built in. I work 3 days a week so I arrange my days off to get things done, keep my grandbaby and clean house. I am not doing a very good job writing my blog cause my work has ramped up the last few weeks and I am really tired when I get home. I need to discipline myself better for that. Your comfy spot is very cozy!

    1. I am really enjoying my comfy spot. Sounds like you have a pretty busy schedule. I like to be busy as long as I am actually accomplishing something. It hasn't seemed that way lately, which is why I am restructuring.

  3. What a nice chair and ottoman! A lovely place to sit and contemplate and plan. I usually wing it since losing my dear husband 3 3/4 years ago. But I may be living a more structured lifestyle, if I get the full time job I have an interview for tomorrow morning.

Enjoy the rest of your week ~ FlowerLady

    1. I hope you got the job. So sorry for the loss of your husband. It can be very difficult to restructure our lives after a painful loss, but sounds like you are really working on it.

  4. Love your little sitting area. It just feels cozy & comfortable from the picture.
Most days, I just wing it. If there are certain things that I want done, I make a list. Feels good to cross off each one as I finish them. I always make time for some fun things & for me that is to read, embroidery, read blogs and watch an old movie.. oh ya, I spend to much time on pinterest too!! Have a great day!

    1. I am a list maker too, Kaylene. I love crossing things off of it when I get them done. So satisfying. Pinterest can definitely be hard to get off of. I have tried to limit my time there. :)

  5. I love the chair and ottoman! Your home is coming together and is so you. Right now my life seems in chaos but will get better soon I tell myself! I haven't been blogging like I want to either. You inspire me to make a schedule for blogging. Hugs!

    1. Thanks, Linda. It seems so hard to get back into a regular schedule once we get out of it. Hope your chaos eases up. I have a lot of personal chaos too and it makes it hard to stick to a schedule.

  6. Love the chair. Looks very comfy and cozy. That will be a great chair this winter to cozy up in with a good book and you can watch the snow fall outside the window. Love the rug too. That is so pretty and 40 bucks wooo hooo score.

  8. Being retired, I kind of wing it mostly.. though I do like lists! I have a main list of everything I want to get done, buy, etc. (for the house) and then a more current list for the week, and then a daily list I make the night before I got to bed! It feels good to know what few things I want to get done for the day. But sometimes, the list gets ignored! That's the bonus of being retired! I get up, have my tea and check emails, read some blog posts, then eat, then get on computer again to decide if I need to do a blog post.. I also wing those.. no set schedule, just "when I feel like it" or have something to share. I like the unstructure of most days, as when I worked, I hated the routines and rush rush rush, and having to do things I didn't like doing. I also try to take time almost every day to craft and make things for my Etsy shop. Your chair and rug are so pretty.. love that corner by the window for sitting and relaxing, contemplating and looking outside.

    1. I guess I will never actually be "retired". My grandparents worked until their early nineties so I am hoping that I will be able to also. I never liked having a structured job. Didn't work for me at all. So even though I am restructuring I know that I will always have flexibility.

  9. My life is usually is pretty calm until some stresser comes along demanding my time NOW. After spending the summer babysitting the Grand Girl, my days are restructuring themselves in a little bit of a different pattern. I'm not sure exactly where it is taking me, but so far the ride is pretty comfortable. Love the chair and ottoman.

  11. I organize some of my time around housework, errands, working out, and blogging. But wing the rest. I like structure, but need some flex time! Love your new chair and ottoman. Your new place is looking so good.
