GOOD GRIEF ENOUGH WITH THE TEETH ALREADY

First of all I want to thank all of you for your sweet comments concerning the death of my brother-in-law. My sister seems to be handling it well and is moving forward.

Now, about that teeth, or should I say tooth, issue. My life over the last week has been wrapped up with one stupid tooth. Monday and Tuesday were spent getting a complicated root canal and Thursday I had 3 1/2 hours of periodontal surgery.

I am now recovering, although I am not sure how long it will take to recover from the money I forked over. So much for getting a new chair and ottoman. That will definitely have to wait for more savings.

Since I am having to rest for a few days (well rest is always relative with me) I am planning my next venture. I am going to expand my local vintage and antique business to another booth in a new location.

I have decided to cut back on my Etsy business. I am getting a bit tired of the shipping after eight years, and I am not happy with the control they are exerting over the way I take payments. Etsy is not the seller friendly place that it used to be.

The periodontist has restricted my lifting etc. for the next week so I am going to work on pricing the things I want to move from Etsy to my booth.

There is not a lot more that I can do on my apartment right now, thanks to the pesky dental bills, but I am satisfied with what I have done and will start showing it to you next week.

BTW my periodontist said she had never had as much fun doing a surgery as she had doing mine. I chose not to have sedation so that I could drive myself there and back, and I kept her and my dental student laughing the whole time. Apparently I can be quite entertaining when I am nervous.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Summer has been zooming by and I sense a change in the light outside, which always signals that fall is not far off.

  2. Come on, fall! It's hot and miserable here. Sorry about the dental bills. I went through a slew of them last year and it definitely put a dent in my pocketbook. Sounds like a great business venture!

  8. Oh Laura so sorry about your mouth issues. I think the pain of dental stuff comes from the bill!!!! You go girl with doing all of that with nothing to numbing. Super Women!!! Glad you are getting settled into your new place. The booth sounds like a great idea for you. Good luck with that.

  9. Oh dental bills.....I'm dealing with those too.. had to take out a loan of all things... to pay for all the dental work.. goodbye camper... goodbye work on our new little (old) house! plus I'm so phobic about going to the dentist! Hope you are done for awhile! You are a brave soul to have the surgery without at least the (laughing) gas! I have it usually when I have a root canal as makes the time go much quicker. Am anxious to see pictures of your place..... it's always fun planning our next venture once we recover from something. Feel totally back to normal soon!

  10. Hi Laura...Sorry about the teeth problem. Dental work gives me the shivers. I'm so afraid of being charged huge amounts of money I don't have. Whew! So I could identify with your post entirely. Hope all is well soon. Your new sofa and ottoman are in the same category as having my windows washed....it would be nice but currently impossible to hire professionals. Sad but true. Take care. 12. Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law's death. Prayers to you and your family. Wishing you a quick recovery from all the dental issues. I went thru hours of periodontal surgery several years ago so have an idea what you endured. I only discovered your blog a few months ago and have really enjoyed your posts on moving to your apartment and down-sizing. I am at the stage of thinking about putting my house on the market and moving closer to my daughter. It's something I need to do but the actual process is daunting. Any posts on your new housing and how your decisions were made are very interesting to me. Good luck with your new business venture!

  13. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been battling teeth and gum problems. I know that had to cost a small fortune! I had a root canal and crown early this year and I was shocked to know how much that cost even with insurance! I hope that you recover quickly. And you are braver than me to not be sedated. I am a big baby when it comes to anything like that and would require anything they can give me to make it bearable. It often costs more, but they literally can't work in my mouth without it. I have a very sensitive gag reflex.
