DEFINING SUCCESS AND A WARM WELCOME

How many times in your life has someone told you that you can't do something, to just quit while you are ahead, that you aren't doing it the right way, that you just aren't ready, or that it is not a possibility.

Don't let someone else define what success is to you. Their path is not yours. Their way is not yours. Their success is not your success.

Last week Jen at Muddy Boot Dreams and I started a Facebook group to support all of the wonderful and fearless bloggers over the age of 40. We weren't sure what kind of response we would get, but it is something we felt strongly about doing. We felt like the twenty and thirty something bloggers were defining how we should measure our success, that if we weren't in that age group we were somehow on the outside looking in. Well, we refused to be told we couldn't play in the game.

When we started the group we said that everyone who joined this past week would be listed here this Monday. I of course was thinking that maybe there would be 15 or 20 people. We currently have 68 members and growing. WOW!!! We are referring to ourselves online as the to40's and #to40s (the over 40's) So I want to give a warm welcome to all of the first week members. We are planning lots of activities, and would love to have you join in if you haven't done so yet. The link is here.

  1. Hi Laura... I've written you a couple of emails thru your contact form. I joined the group under my personal FB acct. of Melinda Hammer. Could you change the name to Katie Clooney? Thanks. Neither name is on this list but I am a member.

  13. This group of women is going to change the blogging world's perception of older bloggers. Blogging is not about competition, who has the most followers, or the best stats, the most posts...and I think that our TO40" are going to show the blogging world just how important community is. Going to be a interesting ride Laura.

  15. Hi Laura,
I just found your blog and so happy I did! I was *always* told by my mother that "you can't do that", "you're not doing it right", "I don't know what makes you think you can do that" ~ and it was several times a day, all my life. It's taken a lot of therapy, self-work and a change in thinking for me.

I'd love to join the FB group ~ sounds really nice! I'll most likely be the oldest member but hey, life is what you make it, right?

I'm a new follower and subscribed via email. I look forward to getting to know you! Stop by and say "hi" when you can ~

    xo

  17. Hi I came over from the Over 40 group. The ads on your sidebar are very distracting...just my opinion.
