THESE ARE EXCITING TIMES

Yes, these are exciting times for me. For those of you who don't know me let me just say that statement was made completely tongue in cheek. I really would like to say, Laissez les bon temps roulez. (bet you didn't know that I speak Cajun), but it just isn't that exciting.

Yesterday was a typical day for me. After writing my blog post and listing something in my Etsy shop, I spent the entire afternoon going through a big box of vintage ephemera that has just been hanging out in my closet. I've been kind of hoping maybe it would just disappear, but no such luck. So I pulled out a bunch of old Hollywood photos from the 1940s and some other prints, put each one in a plastic sleeve and priced them all for my booth. It is amazing how that can take the entire afternoon.

Then I spent the next hour going through my vintage fabrics. I really need to monitor what is going on in my closets. How could I possibly have so much? I did find this old tea towel and I am going to pair it up with this fabric I found at the thrift store the other day. You'll have to wait to see it when it is completed.

After that it was on to this old flatware box. No, it hasn't been mingling in the closet with those other things. It was relegated to the garage for the last few months. I think the stuff in the closet is doing enough multiplying without throwing anything else in there.

It is really beat up , but I knew I didn't want it for flatware and it was only $3.00 at auction so I couldn't pass it up.

The first thing I had to do was pull out the old velvet lining. What did they use for glue back then? I may or may not have asbestos poisoning now.

Well that's as far as I got on that little project. Some people take weeks remodelling an entire room. It takes me that long to remodel a box. SIGH!!!

So now that you know just how exciting yesterday was, I guess I better get busy on today. Maybe I'll get real adventurous and actually get out of my jammies.

  1. At least you did some good things yesterday. It was rainy and cold here and I pretty much just vegged!

  2. You did get some things accomplished though Laura, with sorting and organizing. I like the fabric and tea towel. They are a perfect combination for something you will show us completed soon right? :) Have a great day today.

    1. They came out of the estate of a movie producer. Most of them have the original information on the back which is pretty cool. Have a great day.

  4. Laura, I want to claim that this is why I can not possibly clean out my closets...it would consume my entire year. LOL. I will agree with some of the commenters , you are farther along today than you were yesterday. My husband says he sees all jobs as a bunch of small jobs and I see it ,as oh my gosh, one huge job that will take the rest of my life. LOL. Take care, xoxo,Susie

    1. I'm so tired from doing that yesterday that seriously all I wanted to do today was take a nap today, Susie. Unfortunately that was not in the cards. :)

  5. You got a lot done...and you know cleaning out, and up should only be done in small doses...that's a well known fact. LOL.

And I love that blue fabric...too bad we didn't live closer...just imagine the swaps we could have.

  7. That blue and white fabric that you found is very well known by me! My kitchen was wallpapered in that pattern when we first moved in this house in 1995. Its from Waverly and called Blue Savoy. I fell in love with that color and pattern. Can't wait to see the box after you give it a makeover.
