SNOWED AND FROZEN IN

Record snowfalls and record low temperatures have hit Kentucky. They have even shut the University of Kentucky down for the next two days. That is something that they never do.

This is what my sister's car looked like two days ago. (my car is currently on the injured list) It was covered and surrounded by more than 10" of snow.

For some reason they didn't plow this parking area when they did the driveways. So armed with my trusty broom I ventured out. I'm under there somewhere.

I did manage to get the snow off the windshield and windows, but there was nothing I could do about the parking lot. So I sat in the car and prayed. Then I gunned it in reverse all the way to the driveway. Somehow I made it. I got to the grocery and pharmacy, arrived home quickly, and unloaded the groceries. Then hooray, there was a parking place right across from the entrance to the apartment.

There was snow, but as someone had pulled out of there, I figured there would be no problem with me getting in. Halfway into the space I got stuck. Couldn't go forward, couldn't back out, and I was blocking the truck next to me. Oh boy!!! Got out with my broom and started sweeping. After about three tries I was able to go forward.

However, it is now stuck there and as far as I am concerned it can stay there until this weekend when it is supposed to get above freezing. I don't know about you, but I am so over winter.

So while I am stuck inside, I will be dreaming and planning for the warm days that are not too far down the road.

Enjoy your day.

    1. This is really the first bad weather we have had this winter, Judy and I hope it is the last. March is just around the corner.

  4. Oh- I hate things like that! How miserable. A couple of years ago I started down our really STEEP driveway and it was all ice. The car started sliding out of control and I knew it was going to crash into the house if it kept going. So I hit the GAS and gunned it and turned into a huge snowdrift The car went right up on top of about an 8 foot drift and stuck there...lol...but at least I didn't crash into the front of the house. Hubby was not too happy. xo Diana

    1. Thanks for making me laugh, Diana. I can just picture you on top of that snow drift. I can just imagine Hubby's face when he saw it. LOL

  5. Oh you poor thing, it's so bad that they are even showing it our Canadian news. My husband called to me to let me know about it...and it was astounding!

Hope that you get out soon.

    1. IT is crazy. It was minus 13 here this morning with a wind chill of minus 26. We just aren't prepared for all of this. It is going to warm up today so I am going to try and get the car out before the next storm hits tonight :(

  6. That's a lot of snow. I don't blame you for wanting to just stay put. I think the whole country is tired of Winter already.

  9. Have lots of hot drinks and sweet treats. Listen to some good music while reading a nice book. Try not to slip on some icy patches outside.
    Take care ;-)

    1. I am very careful when I walk outside. The last thing I need is a fall. Lots of hot green tea is keeping me warm.
