TURNING DOWN THE COVERS

There is a reason that I make my bed up first thing every morning (well, besides the fact that I can feel my mother's disapproving stare from clear across town if I don't). If I didn't, there are many days that I am tempted to crawl back under the covers. Especially when the temps start falling outside.

And then there are the days when I look at my bed and think how easy it would be to turn down the covers and climb back in anyway. That is when I have to say, "discipline, Laura", because I know that I am not a napper. Naps leave me feeling groggy and out of sorts. They cause me to have insomnia.

So I am deterred by the made up bed. (good grief, even beds intimidate me)

Did you happen to notice my vintage ticking and feather pillow. I found two of these in like new condition for $1 each. I was so excited, that I was almost afraid to take them to the checkout. I thought maybe there was a mistake in pricing. I think the lady who checked me out thought there was, too. I have tacked an antique hand crocheted doily on this one. When I move next year I may use them both on my couch.

YAWN!! I think I need to get out of my chair and run some laps around my apartment. That bed is looking pretty inviting.

  1. I like my bed made all pretty. It makes me happy when I walk past it during the day. And I'm not a napper either....makes me feel more tired! Hope the sun comes out and brightens your day my friend! Sweet hugs, Diane

    1. I hate getting into a bed at night that hasn't been made. I hope the sun comes out too. I know it is up there somewhere :)

    1. I wish I could nap, but it just doesn't work for me. It make getting into bed at night that much nicer, though.

  3. The biggest treat is to take a little nap around 3pm on an occasional Sunday afternoon as dinner cooks...
Other than that...I can never nap.
I LOVE your new pillow(s) and I can't wait to see them tossed on your couch after your move!
    Keep warm and stay well!

    1. Thanks, Lynne. Now all I have to do is move and get a couch. Just minor things. I took care of the big thing. I got the pillows :)

  4. I am a napper...not everyday but some days I have to close my eyes. Sometimes I stay on the couch, but most times I climb in the bed! Yawn!

    1. My sister can sleep anywhere. I'm not sure that we have the same genetic code :)

  5. I'm a big believer in afternoon naps - I take a half hour nap almost every day. I like to do that because I get up early and I usually go to bed late.

    1. It's great that you can rejuvenate yourself like that in the middle of the day, Kim. I have to get all of my sleep at night or I get really cranky :)

  6. I'm with you Laura, I can't nap. If I do I can't sleep at night and I also feel drug out the rest of the day. My husband was a napper. He could sleep sitting up and he could decide how long he wanted to sleep and wake up precisely at that time. I used to envy him that.

  8. Your mother sounds like my kinda gal. I make my bed first thing, unless my husband gets up after me (which is often), then he makes it right away (he's a smart man) ;).

I'm not much of a napper either. I'd have to get less than 4 hours of sleep to even feel like napping. I'm a bit of an insomniac...which explains why I'm commenting after 1 a.m. lol
