just one time

Just one time I would like to purchase something and actually have it work right.

You may have noticed that I was AWOL yesterday. That is because my cell phone died and I had to get a new one. I really wanted an Iphone so that I could Facetime with my grandchildren. Apple conveniently just released the Iphone 6 and Sprint was having a very sweet promotion for unlimited everything for $50 a month. I had even saved up enough money to pay the down payment on the phone. YIPPEE!!

The first time I bought a smart phone I didn't go with an Iphone because I didn't like it's size. I love the size of this one. It's larger and thinner. PERFECT!

Well, I thought everything was perfect until I tried to Facetime with my grandkids last night. It wouldn't connect. REALLY???

So I tried to setup my Apple account. None of the info that I set up when I bought the phone yesterday, which took several hours by the way because everyone else in the free world wanted one too, worked. FRUSTRATION!!!

I had an auction so thought I could just get it straightened out this morning. Called Apple. The person I spoke with was very helpful, but she said the info didn't work for her either. I would have to go back to the store and get it straightened out. GRRRRR!!!!

She did tell me how to set up my Apple ID which is different from my Apple account and I hope that fixed the Facetime problem. Seems I have to be logged in to my ID in order to use it. I'll have to wait until the kids are available to try it again. SAD FACE!!!!

So now I will have to go back to the store. I think I will wait until Monday for that little ordeal. It seems to be a problem that nothing works right when you get it. I think this problem was with the sales person. In the meantime I will have to figure out all of the bells and whistles. Hopefully that will be fun.

P.S. I was not compensated by Apple in any way. This is just my own opinion.

  1. Laura, I am with you girl...When I buy something, I want it to work as advertised. I do not want to have to stand on my head ,do 3 backflips and hop on one leg to get results either. I wish you the best luck. xoxo,Susie

  2. I hear you, Laura. After all the hype wears off, you really just want it to work. Thank you for giving us the head's up. I was thinking seriously about switching out my two year old HTC for the newer, bigger iPhone so I could Facetime with my grandbabies as well. I think I'm gonna wait a bit until Apple gets the bugs worked out.

Have a restful weekend and good luck heading back to the Apple store.

    1. Thanks, Cassandra. I can't wait to Facetime. I think they were excited too and disappointed when it didn't work. Hopefully we will get some time this week. I think you will like the phone if you get it :)

  4. Computers are as far as I'm willing to go. My phone, which I have only used once or twice, is $17 a month for 200 minutes. The phone was $35 and red. I don't like those smart phones, but I know most people do.

    1. I do love my smart phone and I use the camera for all of my photos. I downloaded dropbox and now it is easy peasy to get my photos on picmonkey :)

  5. As I get older the less I want to fool with new things. When I got my smart phone last year right before I went to Alaska, I had my granddaughter set it all up for me! If I need something else, I just wait until the next time she's over her and let her do it. Smart young kids!

    1. I love pen and paper, too Pam. If I could just figure out how to make it work in this crazy tech world we live in :)

  7. I feel your frustration! Hopefully, you will get your problem resolved tomorrow. Technology always sets me off too if it doesn't work properly.
