transformations....change is inevitable

Have you ever said to yourself, "Everything was so perfect. Why did it have to change?"

I certainly have, but change is an inevitable part of life. When we look around at nature we can see the changes on a daily basis. I often wish summer could go on forever, because I know that even if I like fall, I am not a winter person. My arthritis doesn't like it and I get seasonal affective disorder. But I can no more stop the changing of the seasons than I can the changes in my life.

So I know that I can sit around and complain about the changes or I can embrace them, and if I embrace them I am opening the door to many new possibilities. We each will have many changes in our lives. Some of these changes will be unique just to us, while others will be changes that so many others have also gone through.

When we embrace change, we learn from it and with that learning comes a sense of knowing, possibly wisdom.

So take time to look back at some of the changes you have had in your own lives. Whether big or small, did you learn something from them?

  1. Beautifully said Laura !!! Changes can be difficult but everything happens for a reason ( I believe ) it's figuring out what that reason is that's sometimes the hard part :)
    Have a wonderful day -

  3. Laura, I have whined about change..many times..usually daily :):) It is a natural process, but we don't have to like it, we just have to adjust . I just hope my adjustment button doesn' wear out. LOL. Well I do use humor to make it work at times. Blessings to you dear Laura, xoxo,Susie

    1. I've found that a lot of the times when I look back on changes that I was left wondering about that something better has eventually come out of them.

    1. I can totally relate to what you have said Linda. I'm trying to embrace even the bad changes I'm going through. An everyday battle.

    2. It is really hard to get through a lot of the changes that we go through. I think it is wonderful that you are trying to embrace them all.

  8. Inspiring post , Laura. While I am not in the "everything happens for a reason " club, I do truly believe that is how we deal effectively with what has happened and changed that makes us stronger and hopefully more content!

  9. Hi Laura..Yes, indeed, changes are inevitable. I've lived through my fair share of them and I'm sure more will come. If things aren't changing, it's like still water. Algae forms and it gets green and slimy. So, guess change is good! Susan

    1. I love your analogy, Susan. One thing we can pretty much be assured of is that change is inevitable :)

  10. Almost everyday I have to concentrate on some positive ideas in order not to give up. These positive ideas partly come from the lessons drawn from how I have handled past changes.

  11. That's a good way to embrace change. I never thought of it like that before. I don't like change usually. I am a creature of habit and I like to feel in control of things. I can honestly say though that I have learned things from change.

    1. I think many of us are creatures of habit, Kelly, but the longer we live the more change we will experience. I am glad that you have been able to learn things from change. :)

  13. While I AM a creature of habit I do like change, too. I think that is one reason I like traveling so much- I take the same old me to a brand new spot and feel refreshed and renewed. I hope to travel a bit more when hubby retires. xo Diana

  14. I just had this conversation with a very stubborn family member. They are so busy resisting the changes in their life that they are just stuck in anxiety trying to have control over what is inevitable.
It's a hard change to make, but we have to in order to move forward.
    Beautiful post, Laura.

    1. Thanks, Tina. It can be very frustrating to watch someone mire themselves in anxiety, and no matter how much we want to see them embrace change, they have to realize it for themselves. I will be thinking of them with hopes that they can move forward.

  15. Amen! yes.. easier said than done for most, right? I think we just get stuck and it's that fear of failure thing .. unfortunately. Sometimes we are forced to change and in that case, it often works out for the best. Wonderful and inspiring post Laura:) Happy Friday!
