happiness is

This morning was just plain aggravating. I'm sure you know how it is. I woke up early and hit the floor running with the intention of hitting some yard sales.

Got to my bank. The ATM was broken. GRRRRR!!!!

Okay, no cash, so I'll go pick up some breakfast for sister and me.

They of course messed up the order so I had to get out of the car, wait in line inside and have it replaced. GRRRRR!!!!

When I got back into the car I started to laugh at myself and how silly I was being. I mean after all these were really only minor annoyances, and there probably was a reason they happened.

I needed a quick attitude adjustment.

I knew I could make myself miserable or I could choose to spend my day being happy.

On the way home I spotted a small neighborhood farmer's market. I had five dollars on me. Just enough to buy something special.

Because some days happiness is as simple as a bowl of fresh picked strawberries.

I hope that whatever happens in your day today, you are able to choose happiness.

  1. Yes I appreciate the days when those things happen I just chuckle to myself instead of getting mad. Focus on how lucky you were to go our with your sister!

  6. I like a bowl of strawberries better than "a bowl of cherries," anyway.

  9. I've had days like that where I think maybe I should just go back to bed and start all over. I bet tomorrow will be better for you.

  10. I totally agree! I try to always look at things with a great attitude! Some days are easier than others. I believe we have to cultivate these positive thoughts on a daily basis so they are more automatic than the negative ones. My friend and I blog about this also at Blooming Boomers on wordpress.

  11. Laura,
It is hard when these little life annoyances hit but you've got the right attitude. Life is short and sometimes things like this are just a way of saying hey slow down and maybe your path is going in a different direction today. Then I would have put some ice cream in with my strawberries to make myself feel even better. LOL! Hope the rest of the day goes better. Have a great Sunday.

  14. I hear you!! Sometimes I simply wake up in a crabby mood...maybe a night of tossing and turning or just not wanting to get out of bed. I'm always amazed that once that coffee is brewing and I've let the dogs out, I slowly come to life and wonder what I was unhappy about!

    Thanks for keeping it real!

    XO,
    Jane
