just popping in

Things are still very hectic here, but I've been missing everyone so much I had to post a quick note to catch up with what is going on in my life.

My brother-in-law who has been in very poor health for many years had to be admitted to the hospital last Thursday. My sister has been caring for him at home, but is no longer able to do so. So we are now looking for a placement for him in a nursing home. This has been very difficult for all of us. They have been married for 36 years and no one wants to send a loved one to a nursing home.

To make matters worse, my sister and I have to move by the end of this month. My sister has never lived by herself and she doesn't drive. So we are looking for an apartment where I can stay with her at first until she is settled and then I will look for a place of my own not too far away.

I am continuing my morning walks. It is a time of serenity for me where I can center myself for the day ahead.

Thank you all so much for your sweet words. Sorry I haven't been able to do much visiting, but I am thinking of you as I pack, apartment hunt, nursing home hunt, work my Etsy and Ebay businesses, and try to be a supportive sister.

  1. Laura I am so glad you are able to be there for your sister and brother in law. I know when my Mom could no longer take care of my Dad at home, it was so hard to move him to a nursing home, but it had to be done. Keeping you and your family in my prayers! Big Hugs!

PS Looks like the reason for you not moving to ATL has been shown to you!

  4. Laura, Sending hugs and prayers to you , your sister and her husband. Your sister is doing her best..if taking care of a loved one gets the care giver down...everyone loses, so this may be the best thing for now. Bless her heart. It's good you can help her cope. xoxo,Susie
