up in the air

Friday, July 5, 2013

You know how you think things are figured out, and then everything changes.

I guess that is called life.

I had planned to move to Atlanta in a couple of months. I was looking for jobs and a place to live.

But then life interrupted. My son-in-law who is a film editor lost his job. His company sold and they brought in their own people. There are only so many places in this country where film editors can work.

Fortunately some of the clients he had are following him and he is able to freelance. But, he is also entertaining a job in Dallas.

So, where does that leave me. There is no point in me moving until I know where they will be. That means I will be staying in Kentucky for the time being and looking for a job here and figuring out where I will be living.

Lots to do, but I know it will all work out. There are certainly worse places to be than up in the air.

I want to apologize for not responding to everyone or commenting on a lot of blogs this past week. I was having a wonderful time in Atlanta and didn't have my computer. I did take lots of photos and will be weeding through them in the next few days. The three in today's post were from a walk I took while there.

  2. Love those pics of the flowers you took while here in Atlanta. I actually recognize those flower types. LOL! So sorry to hear about your son's job loss, but glad that he has other options in place. Hopefully, everything will work out soon for everyone.

  3. Never apologize about blogging! You need one of those Blogging without Guilt buttons! ;P

Pretty flowers from Atlanta trip, and I hope that your plans get sorted out. I guess it's a blessing you hadn't already moved to Atlanta.

  6. I'm glad you've had a good time, too. Don't worry about us...everyone is busier in the summer months! I hope you figure out the best thing to do. That's why we didn't retire near our kids. That could move at any time. That's the way jobs are now. Sending you some sweet hugs!

  8. Laura, You know my mantra is "Nothing is certain except change" and that applies to both of us at this moment. I'm glad everything happened before you made the move unlike me. LOL! Just sit back, drink a nice big glass of ice tea and think everything will work out as it's meant to. Now if I could heed my own advice it'd great.

  9. Laura,
Everything will happen for the right reasons in the right time. Glad you did not move and then get this kind of news about your son's job. I hope by staying put a little longer something wonderful will come your way.

  10. The flower photos are beautiful!

Glad you hadn't totally uprooted and delighted you had a good time in Atlanta and were able to unplug for awhile. Let faith be your parachute while you're up in the air. Wishing you a smooth landing -- wherever and whenever that is.

  12. The one thing you can depend on in life is death and taxes. And change. Nothing stays the same. Change is always possible, no matter our plans. I'm glad you didn't move already. Then it would have been even more change.

  18. Ah, Laura . . . all best wishes for your daughter’s family. In some good ways it takes the “eight week eek” pressure off you. Love your new header . . (you are not the only one absent these wonderful summer days).
