cover me up

Do you have furniture that is crying for you to cover it up?

How do you feel about slipcovers?

I personally love them and when I move to Atlanta and have to furnish an apartment from scratch, I will be doing so with furniture from auctions, thrift store, and yard sales.

So I guess I am going to have to learn how to make some slipcovers.

Fortunately there are lots of good tutorials online and I have been known to even be able to follow directions occasionally.

I love all of the different options.

Old chenille bedspreads make great covers and I already have some in my stash.

Matelasse bedspreads give a wonderful texture

How about a cute ottoman covered in ticking. Blue and white happens to be my personal favorite, but this red is pretty cute.

Draping an antique quilt over a chair or sofa is a great look and doesn't require any sewing.

I'm thinking this may be a bit too ruffly for me, but it sure is romantic looking.

and then there is the ever wonderful drop cloth. I love its inexpensive price.

I am loving all of the options.

If you love slipcovers, check out my slipcover board on Pinterest. I'll be adding lots more photos as I find new inspiration.

  1. I adore slipcovers. I had a fabulous one made for a little loveseat, but when I washed it, it shrank too much to fit back on! I would love to make my own, but don't think I have the sewing chops to do it.

  2. I really want to take the time to learn to make one...I can barely keep the dogs out of my sewing room so it should be interesting. I can make an ottoman cover but I am very nervous about tackling a sofa!
Hope you have a great weekend, too!

  8. So many pretty ideas and your a brave woman to try to make them. It scares me just to think about that. ;-)
    Have a good weekend.

  9. So many great options, I will be following your pinterest board to see more. I would love to try it for one of our favorite chairs but I am a little afraid. Maybe the drop cloth option would be a good way to start. I use drop clothes as table clothes and love the way they wash and the price.

  10. I absolutely adore the quilt over the sofa! I wish I had a quilt big enough to cover mine, but my sofa is pretty long. My sofa needs something to keep the ding-dang cats from scratching it up!

  12. I love slipcovers and I even tried to make one for my blogging chair.

    But I got overwhelmed.

    Maybe I'll try again someday!
