my new bff

So, is it a warm cuddly puppy?

a sweet little kitten?

Or maybe Cameron Mathison got to get off that kick.....

No, it's

the Juiceman Junior. Thanks to my wonderfully sweet sister, Tricia, I am now the proud owner of this wonderful juicer.

I have been wanting to add juicing to my gluten free diet and I have been using it every morning for the last ten days. It's amazing how much more energetic I am feeling.

I am juicing organic apples, dandelion greens, ginger root, and lemon juice. I just squeeze the lemon juice into the drink and stir it up.

My grandmother used to go out in the backyard and pick dandelion greens and make a wilted salad from them. Unfortunately with all of the pesticides, we can't do that now so I get mine at Whole Foods.

It always amazes me how our grandparents knew so much about the nutrition we can get from nature. You can find some of the health benefits of dandelions here

So for now there is no cake in my covered cake dish. Only some yummy apples.

I always offer some juice to my mom, but her face turns kind of the same color as my drink.

Cheers!!! I hope your day is as energetic as mine and I would love to know if any of you juice.

I want to thank all of you for the wonderful messages and prayers for my mom. She is home from the hospital and feeling pretty weak. I think her blood pressure may have dropped too low now. I am going to get her a BP checker today so we can monitor it at home.

It's a good thing I have lots of energy, because she has lots of things for me to do. Still bossing me around :)

  1. I don't have a juicer, but my husband did get one of those old fashioned ones for juicing oranges and made some fresh squeezed valencia orange juice a few time. It was quite good. By the way, I have that same cake plate and cover.

  2. I used to have a juicer once. I am so mad at myself for getting rid of it. I hated cleaning it but my blender isn't any more fun to clean.
Thanks for your comment on My Space - you always have the sweetest things to say.
    Thank you!

  3. Good for you taking care of your health! So glad to know that your mom is feeling better and it is something that can be managed. I've never juiced before and I must admit that the color of that drink doesn't look too apealing. But, if it tastes good and gives you more energy, then who am I to judge? Maybe I'll get the courage to try that someday.

  4. I am glad you have a new bff!!!! LOL Hey, where have we been? I haven't seen your posts for days! I don't think blogger puts up all the posts as they are posted or something because I don't see many of my followers often. Ummph!

  5. Glad your mom is home.
I have a juicer and I used it a LOT. It was a good way to get fruit and veggies into DD.
It's a Jack LaLane full sized. The only drawback was there was a lot of cleanup. And I hate to see all the pulp go to waste. But there are good recipes for the pulp!
Juicing is wonderful though. I used to throw whatever was in the fridge in!
When it's green, I feel like it's super healthy!

  6. Never owned a juicer.
Glad you mom's home. Are they having a hard time regulating her high blood pressure medication? What did they find out?

  7. Oh I love juicing, the only downfall was the cleanup....

So good to hear that your Mom is home, and doing better, it's a lot of work looking after them, but so worth it.
