head slap

Yesterday was a beautiful day. It was a bit too hot, but the sun was shining, and since my sister said she needed an outing, we decided to drive down to the Amish market (an hour and a half away) and stock up on some things.

When we arrived, it was the perfect photo op. The rooster was out and crowing, the Amish buggy was  parked by the market, the wash was hanging on the line and blowing in the breeze.........

I was so excited to take photos and share them with you. I reached into my capacious bag.....hmmmmm....I rummaged around in said bag.....I turned that aggravating bag over and dumped the contents on to the seat.....I shook that ridiculous bag out....that's when it occurred to me that maybe my camera hadn't joined me for the trip.

Head slap. OUCH!!! Maybe there is something to be said for a mental head slap.

So here are some photos that others took (because they remembered their cameras).

I was kind of surprised to see this photo, as the Amish normally do not allow their pictures to be taken. This is the owner and also the father of all the darling children I have seen there.

the aforementioned buggy.

I always thought the Amish did their laundry on Monday. Yesterday was Thursday and there was a lot of laundry hanging. Maybe with all those children, laundry has to be done twice a week.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed these photos brought to you by other people.I think maybe I need to have CAMERA tattooed on my forehead, so when I look in the mirror to primp, before backing out of the driveway, I will remember to bring it.

What do you think about a nice light blue in a pretty cursive font.....................

  3. I *never* remember to take my camera anywhere! I am terrible about it especially as far as the kids are concerned. Do I have pictures of them at the zoo? The amusement park? the first day of school?? even HALLOWEEN?? Nope. I guess you'd better schedule tatoos for two!

  4. I've done that and it drives me nuts. I have a tiny camera I keep in my bag and that has helped. I think most people have a phone with a camera nowdays but I don't...so behind in my technology! Looks like a fun trip anyway. hugs, Linda

  5. Aren't you glad your co-travelers had their cameras. The owner looks pretty proud of his store. He must be from a progessive group, most don't allow this.

  6. Good idea, seems like a whole lot of us are in the forgetting mode.

I've seen white tattoos, and they look very pretty.

  8. LOL I left early yesterday to come to the lake cabin and do some chores ahead of Trip and the teenagers, and I had to call him to bring my camera! Maybe we can have matching girlfriend tattoos!

  11. I love the photos. The Amish always give me a sense of serenity. I wouldn't like the hard work, but I love the simplicity.
