meet Klara Klutz

Have you met Klara Klutz? You have, you say?

You know Klara. She's that girl who trips over things, walks into things, drops things................

Ahhhh, yes, Klara Klutz is me.

Three days ago I was finally able to stop using my cane after three months. So exciting. I am finally able to say I am happy I had the knee replacement done. Yesterday I took a package to the post office, because the carrier had failed to make the scheduled pickup at my house the day before. I dropped it in the bin, turned around, caught my toe on the edge of the self-serve kiosk, and went sprawling on the concrete floor. Fortunately I landed on the non surgical knee and hip. Spent the afternoon in the ER and I am now back on a walker with my knee immobilized. Soft tissue damage. (soft tissue damage hurts like the dickens) So yes, call me Klara Klutz.

In the words of John Steinbeck, the best laid plans of mice and men (or woman) often go awry.

  1. Oh NO, Laura! I am so sorry to hear this. And you are so right about soft tissue injuries. I tore rib cartilage a few weeks ago and it takes forever to heal. Hope you've got a stack of great books to read. :-(((

  4. Oh, Laura, so sorry. What a bummer, just when things were turning around with the bionic knee. Heal quickly.

  5. Ah, so unfortunate! I love your sense of humor though :)
I hope you get better soon and feel no pain, and most importantly - start running and jumping!

  6. Oh my goodness! Poor you....you'll just have to lay back and let people serve and help you out. Read blogs...surf the web...read books....eat comfort foods, and then be careful when you're all better!

  8. Oh, Laura, how terrible! Is the soft tissue damage in the other (non surgery) knee? You poor thing. Please take care of yourself and drink some tea and have something delicious. You deserve it.

  10. Well, let's face it, growing "older" isn't for sissies. I am so sorry to hear of your latest 'adventure'. You sure are having some issues. When I read "Karla Klutz", I immediately thought of myself. I seem to have had more 'accidents' in the past 4-5 months, than most of my lifetime. I hope you recover soon.

  12. Bless you! I'm Klara's cousin. I have fallen in so many public places that it is now the family joke at Christmas. Everyone wants to catch up on where I've fallen in the past year! I hate this so bad for you. So sorry!
